It needs phantom power to work. So, if DSLR has phantom power then it should work. I love this mike, I use w/ fs700 and one on a portable Tascam recorder.

Q: Will this mic work with the sony ex3 camera? and would it plug directly into the camera without any other components?

Yes as long as it has an XLR connection
