De'Longhi Magnifica Evo Next Engineer and Coffee Drinker's Review In totality the Magnifica Evo Next is well Engineered and constructed. It presents physical and control features well considered, and arranged to offer ease and pleasure of use. Cleaning and replenishment is not a chore with this device. The Evo Next was designed to encourage coffee brewing rather than just look pretty. Whole weight is substantial enough to suggest quality and to maintain its place on a counter, yet the Magnifica easily slides around for access and cleaning. Evo Next size is substantial enough to minimize refilling of water and beans, and to limit cleaning to a reasonable frequency. Height is suited for fit under upper cabinets, using a good compromise of storage capacity versus easy access. There is adequate clearance to refill the coffee bean hopper from above, while providing for many cups before replenishment. The water carafe seems small, yet it is well considered by being tall and deep enough to hold a full container of water from my Zero Water pitcher. Front access is the best choice I have seen among coffee brewers, and this design slides out easily yet feels substantial and of a precise fit. This feature is indicative of good design choices. The drip tray and grounds hopper are located together in the best location possible for easy removal to empty and clean. Upon purchase a few months ago I removed all the components to inspect for damage, fit, and familiarity. Packing was substantial and the machine arrived in tact. All the components seem durable and substantial, and fit tightly and precise, while being easy to access. Upon removal of the Brewing Unit from the right side access I was impressed by the quality and fit of this principle assembly. This component is indicative of high quality and good choices by the Engineers involved in this design. I have owned many coffee makers of all tiers and this is at the top for a residential machine. The burr grinder feature was a prerequisite for me to consider this machine. And it has not failed to impress me these past months. I set the coarse of grind once and have found no need to change that setting. The Evo Next grinds as does my counter-top Burr Grinder, and gives repeatable results. The noise level is not a factor when beans are ground, and the reservoir is large enough to limit refills to perhaps twice a week, even with our frequent use. I find both the Ground Hopper (my term) and Drip Tray to be easy to clean, and I do that routine daily for good housekeeping. The grounds go into a bucket for composting, and the container is rinsed out with warm water then dried with a paper towel. Removing the two top plates of the Drip Tray is easy enough and a daily rinse is part of my routine, with a light soap wash once a week to keep it from becoming slimy. I have yet to clean the water carafe, but that should be an easy task. The carbon filter was replaced once so far and that is a simple matter. I drink nothing but Zero Water filtered water, and as such the Evo Next considers our refills as 'soft' water, so far precluding descaling. Although the Zero does not remove Calcium or other minerals they are stable in the water and will take forever to precipitate. Overall it is a pleasure to use and maintain the Magnifica Evo Next. We now drink more coffee than before, and enjoy it to a higher degree. We benefit from direct grind brewing like any good barista offers at a coffee shop. And we can prepare a wide range of coffee and latte drinks with ease. I've owned and used conventional latte machines and while they are fun the amount of work required to brew at home discourages frequent use. We use this De'Longhi more often than any other coffee brewer we have ever owned.

Busy mom of 2 under 2 requiring CAFFEINE!
First off, I’m not sure how I’ve gone 31 years of my life without this machine. Second, I read EXTENSIVELY on reviews foe weeks before deciding to purchase the Evo Next. Even though this machine is only rated at 4 stars- I decided to give it a go. And I’m really glad that I did. I got this on a super deal on Black Friday- I was nervous because I’ve only ever owned super simple machines so I was a little overwhelmed when I did my unboxing and set up. The quick start guide was extremely helpful but I did have to read further into the directions for setting up the water filter, etc. Setting up was easier than I initially had thought and getting right into making drinks was too. I make my own syrups or buy organic on Amazon for drinks like macchiatos. I love that you can set up profiles so it’s simple for everyone in our house to go straight to their profile and have their coffee in the morning. The drink options are endless and the brew process is quick. The only con I have is that the milk frother set up is a tad bit on the cheap side- it works great, but sometimes it doesn’t read the attachment and I have to move it around til it sees it. My coffee is hot (unless I make iced) and tastes better than a coffee shop. It’s been a great investment and my husband is happy I’m not buying $10+ coffees every day lol. And I get a lot done around my house and for work with a good double shot!

Great but it didn’t last
Loved it when we received but milk frother stopped working after a few weeks. No customer service from De’Longhi…..chat doesn’t work and phone number just disconnects. Been trying to reach for a month. Giving up and sending back and no option to have original price honored for a replacement. Very disappointed

An amazing time-saving and quality espresso maker, without the learning curve.
Bought this after doing extensive research on Super Automatic Espresso machines as a birthday gift for my wife. We are both coffee snobs, and dislike drip coffee machines and most have rubber tubing that eventually seems to impart a flavor into the brew. Because of this, we were using either a Chemex pour-over, or a manual espresso machine. Both consumed a lot of time, and with 3 children and tight schedules, we found it difficult to make the coffee at home and resorted to coffeeshops a few times a week. The ease of use, with its push button selections, allows us to easily start a coffee and walk away to attend to other things in the household as it brews. We purchase our beans from an amazing one-person local roaster, so being able to enjoy a well-brewed cup of our own beans has been a real treat. We've owned it for just over 3 months now and have ran into zero issues with it. It automatically alerts to low water and when to empty the spent coffee. One criticism I have is that it doesn't seem to know when it is about to run low on water, so I've created a few doppios in which it would run out of water halfway through the pull. Because of this, I've taken to pulling out the water and filling it in the morning, regardless of whether I get a notification or not. Overall, we are extremely satisfied with this machine, and the option to toss in ground beans for a single cup has made it easy to have a decaf espresso after dinner a few nights a week. For the price and the functionality, I've been recommending this to so many people in my life, and always offer a cup of coffee to home visitors.

Is a $700 Coffee Maker Worth It?
Bottom line up front: Yes, this is one of the best investments I've made (with caveats) * I am a coffee snob, bear that in mind if you care less about coffee than I do* I have been fiddling around with low tier K-cup trash to low/mid tier coffee ground-based coffee makers for decades. I realized that when given the opportunity, I'd blow the ridiculous amount of money on coffee shops to make a passable cup for me. I calculated how much I blow on "good" coffee in a year in addition to the garbage I made at home, and $700 for a real piece of equipment became justifiable. I was skeptical, as there are downsides for everything. The only thing I can see for now is that maintenance on this is crucial and more than I am used to. Aside from ensuring this baby stays in pristine cleanliness, which becomes habit, the product is worth it. I now make far superior espresso and cappuccinos than the high priced coffee spots. Almost as good as the one off pro coffee maker shops. So worth it, highly recommend.

Slowest coffee I've experienced
I received this machine (Evo Next) a week ago, so I've had only a little experience with it so far. Overall, it works well, is well designed and built, and makes good coffee. But it would be faster to get dressed, get in my car, drive to the nearest Starbucks, and order a Vingte Latte as it would be to make 20oz of coffee with this machine!

Delonghi Magnifica Evo! Great quality and value!
I purchased this a couple of months ago and waited to right my review after using for a while. Most home machines had negative comments about size of water tank and temperature of the brew including comments on this machine. HOWEVER I believe this is a GREAT machine for the value and home use. Temperature has 3 settings, water tank is great a number of drinks (depending on size and selection). As a home or small office machine the size is perfect and takes minimal space on the counter top. Another great feature is that it uses both beans and fresh ground coffee. The bean reservoir holds enough to last for multiple drinks and the ease of using grounds (I use it for evening de-caf drink) makes it very versatile. I HIGHLY recommend this for home use!

This will ruin you for regular coffee.
I've only had this for a day, so this is an initial impression from someone that actually purchased it, as I'm skeptical about only seeing paid reviews. I'm coming from a regular drip coffee maker. This machine has produced the best tasting coffee I've had anywhere. I used a Starbucks medium roast beans and it blew Starbucks drinks out of the water. When you dial in your settings for your brew strength you get something you savor rather than mindlessly gulp down. The coffee has a thickness, and a lingering flavor that sticks to your tongue. I'm officially an espresso convert and can no longer drink the burnt gutter water that I was calling coffee. The machine does clean itself a bit, so keep a cup at the ready for the cleaning cycles. Having a water filter in the tank was impressive. Drink volume is a bit less than what I'm use to. Choosing large makes closer to a small/medium amount of beverage. I'm fine drinking less liquid and getting a good caffeine dose. The milk froths wonderfully, but the container doesn't attach perfectly, I've gotten warnings multiple times it wasn't attached, but it was tilted slightly by a couple millimeters. The machine has a lot of sensors and moving parts that I'm concerned about how it will stand the test of time. The footprint of this contraption is a bit deep, but most of it is hidden under the cabinet and just the button selections exposed. It's not overly wide. Is it worth it? You can probably find other automatics cheaper with slightly less functionally. It seems like a decent mid grade option. I'm more than happy so far and look forward to enjoying this.
