Max Cooper not only gives you information on what you need... but also why you need it. If there's something not covered in this book I can't imagine what it might be. Well done, Max.

This book is full from cover to cover with all the info you need to set up you B.O.B. Easy to read and understand for those starting out.

I especially liked the medical and trama, weapons and self-defense, and navigation sections. The book is well written and understandable.

This is my 3rd book by Max Cooper. I prefer his well thought and precise writing style. Max Cooper has tested every bit of advice he gives the reader and preaches practice, practice, practice. All of his work can be relied upon to be accurate and enlightening.

Easy read supper helpful in setting up my BOB

I have the 1 st edition of this book and wasn’t really sure if the 2nd edition would really be worth it. I was wrong! Seriously wrong! Realistic Bug Out Bag, 2nd Edition: Prepared to Survive by Max Cooper literally blows away the 1st edition in its size, scope, and amount of information. At 620 pages, the 2nd edition is 3x the size of the first. This is a mammoth of a book. I also like that the size of the book is 7x10 as opposed to the common 6x9. Because it is such a thick book the larger size is helpful when reading.Following are some key points that I felt were very valuable.Bug Out Plan – This chapter is valuable in that it provides excellent information in planning for your bug out. It provides very specific information of which some of it I never really thought about. It also showed me that planning is so valuable although most skip this part which is a big mistake. There is a lot of up front planning to bugging out. It is much more than simply grabbing your BOB and hitting the road.Fire – I liked the section on firestarting drills. The information provides as realistic a way of testing your ability to mimic being cold, hypothermic, and/or injured. I actually practiced the drills and they were way harder than I anticipated. But, I am now better prepared.Medical and Trauma – This is an excellent chapter especially relating to the information on trauma. I made some modifications to my trauma kit and I now fee l much more prepared. One injury can completely change your bugging out plans.Weapons and Self-Defense – This chapter is a gem and full of nuggets of information. Many people talk about weapons when bugging out but there is very little discussion on self-defense. The information on self-defense was very valuable and specific. This chapter graphically showed the reality of bugging out and not only the potential for danger and violence but what you can do to protect yourself and your family.Packing Your Bug Out Bag – The information on testing your bug out bag and conducting walks will save people from a lot of pain. Read this chapter and do the test walks! Really, do the walks!Bug Out Scenarios – Full of excellent scenarios to put yourself to the test.Overall Assessment:Realistic Bug Out Bag, 2nd Edition: Prepared to Survive by Max Cooper is the only book on bug out bags that you will need. It is “THE ONE” to have bar none. Highly recommended and I’ve read a lot of books on this subject. Well worth the cost!

This is the definitive bug out bag book. At over 600 pages this book is full of insightful and relevant information. It includes scenarios and drills that, if practiced, will take your skills to a new level. The book is well organized and very complete with excellent photos. If there was only one book to get on bug out bags this is definitely the one. I like how this book is very logical and well thought out. Get this book! You will not be disappointed.Highly recommended.

I purchased this in November having read Mr Cooper’s first edition realistic bug out bag, this new edition is simply awesome and packed full of very useful guidance, and scenarios (it's not just about what to carry in your bag)It’s very well written, easy to understand and if like me you are interested in the outdoors, bushcraft and disaster planning. I’m sure you will get a lot of out this. It is primarily aimed at the American market but there is so much in it which could be applied anywhere in the world including in the UK. It's now my go to resource book!Remember don't just read it, practise, train and use the skills and have a plan!
