This is a FANTASTIC dehumidifier!
Way back in the 1950's, someone thought that it would be a good idea to build an extension onto my house - an old mining cottage that was built in the 1800's, and while this would have been great if it had been done properly, the builders at the time were besotted with concrete, the new-fangled building material that was going to revolutionise everything for them, so instead of digging down and setting down wooden floorboards over well-ventilated foundations, they poured some concrete and built upon it. The result, as any modern-day builder will know, is that the extension of the house is riddled with damp problems. To get around this, we've always needed to have two dehumidifiers running at the back of the house; one in the bathroom and another in the hallway - but it occurred to us recently that the one in the bathroom was starting to pack in, as although it looked and sounded like it was still working, our windows were running with condensation and black mould was beginning to form in the hallway cupboards and the bathroom ceiling, so we needed to get a new one - and pretty sharpish, too. I had a good look at a few different models and come to the conclusion that there were a few features that the new one(s) were going to need; a humidistat, the possibility to run continuously, and for them to be quiet. I whittled it down to a few models, but this Netta one won with its slightly cheaper price, good features and a slew of positive reviews, so I went the full hog and bought two of them. >>>WHAT'S IN THE BOX? Well, rather unsurprisingly, you get the dehumidifier in the box! You also get a short length (about 50cm) of clear tubing and a set of instructions. >>>FIRST IMPRESSIONS? After I'd removed the units from their packaging, I have to say that I was pretty impressed with how they looked, but since they had been in transit - and according to the note on the unit itself - I needed to place 'em upright and leave 'em for a few hours before turning 'em on. I have to say that, in comparison to my two old ones, these new ones look comparatively like the Starship Enterprise as they're very sleek and have an array of controls across the front of them. They are also mounted on casters, meaning that it should be easy to move around and empty them. >>>HOW EFFECTIVE IS IT? After I'd left them alone for half a day, I moved them into the hallway and bathroom where they were going to live, plugged them in, flicked their power switches on and pressed the power button on the each of the units. They beeped, lit up like Christmas trees and made a gentle whirring noise as cool air started to blow from the louvre on the tops of them. Nice. I played with their 'Speed' buttons, which allows you to switch it between 'high' and 'low' speeds, then I pressed the 'Purify' button to turn their air purifying feature on, then left them for an hour to see what difference they would make to the windows in the hallway and bathroom. The front display on them was showing that the humidity in each of the rooms was over 85% when I first turned them on, so it was going to be interesting to see how much this would drop. After an hour or so had passed, I decided to have a look at the end of the hallway where the purifiers had been gently humming away and was stunned to see that not only had the window cleared of condensation in each of the rooms, there was no water on the windowsills. In fact, the rear of the house even felt noticeably drier after just an hour of this thing being turned on and the humidity level on the unit's display was now sitting at '63'. To top it all, the air purifier had eliminated the musty, damp odour that had begun to hang around the hallway. I was rather impressed, to say the least. After about six hours of operation, the 1.5l tank in the unit had reached its maximum capacity and it made a beeping sound before turning off. >>>SINGING IN THE BATHTUB The biggest test of all was in store for the humidifier that lived in the bathroom - which is without doubt the coldest of all of the rooms in the house. My partner and I like to have hot baths and showers, which turned out to be too much for the old dehumidifier to handle. Would the new one do better? The answer, of course, is a resounding 'Yes'. I ran a hot bath and watched with interest as the humidity level raised to about 68% but stayed there. I got in and watched as the humidity slowly climbed over 70% and then floated around the 80% mark, which was still enough to stop the tiles from running with water and for the bathroom mirror to steam up. >>>ARE THEY NOISY? In a word, no - but they're not silent either. It's difficult to accurately describe the noise that they make - but I would say that it's probably about equal to that of a microwave oven, and although they've got two speed settings they don't really get any louder at their higher speed setting - they just makes a higher-pitched sound, which could irritate sensitive ears after a while. At the low speed setting (which I have had them set to for the majority of the time since I got them) it's barely noticeable once you get used to it and they hum away during the night without interrupting mine and my partner's sleep. Importantly, and unlike my older dehumidifiers, the fact that they're on casters stops them from vibrating when placed on hard flooring, which is something that was driving me around the bend with the old ones. >>>ARE THEY EASY TO EMPTY? Yup. The tanks on these are located at the back of the units, and it's a simple case of spinning 'em around (those casters again - what a great idea!) pulling 'em out and pouring the water collected in them into a sink, drain or whatever. I would recommend that you turn them off for a couple of minutes before pulling the tank out though, as water continues to pour out of the outlet above the tank for a short while after they've been turned off. They've actually got two settings for drainage - you can leave them on the 'Auto' setting, which utilises their internal water tanks as above, or you can attach the supplied tubing to their outlets, set 'em to 'Continuous' mode, then have the tube draining into a bucket or a drain, etc. I've not yet explored this! >>>CAN YOU SET THE HUMIDITY? Yes, you can! You can set the device to turn off automatically when the humidity in a room gets below a certain level, and can set a target level of between 40-85%. I leave my ones set with a target humidity level of 60%, which seems to work really well as they'll turn off when the humidity reaches just below 60%. >>>SUMMING UP I'll be honest - I wasn't expecting these dehumidifiers to be as effective as they are; I thought that they'd do about the same job as the ones I already had, but they're truthfully so, so much better. They're simple to use, attractive looking, have casters for easy manoeuvring, are quiet and have all the features I was looking for - and to top it off, they're brilliantly effective at controlling the dampness in my house. I cannot recommend this model highly enough!

Good quality, great value.
I bought one 3 months ago following a damp survey on our home, and as part of our ongoing strategy to tackle some pretty bad condensation issues and it has completed solved our problems throughout the house. Just an hour so every day makes a huge difference and massively reduced condensation in even the furthest away of rooms, to the point that it's no longer a problem. What I particularly like about this model is it's 20l, sufficient powerful for a mid-sized house, but more compact that other models, meaning it can just be wheeled under a table when not in use. Highly recommended.

Great! But a little noisy and bright for bedrooms.
It's a great little dehumidifier that can keep a small to medium sized room dry, year round, even if you live in a damp part of the country that rarely sees air humidity drop below 70 or 60 %. I've had it for about 8 months without issues, though I did remove the flap on the top to stop my cat from closing it while the machine is running - The fan isn't powerful enough to open the flap by itself, it blocks the air outlet. I assume it's to stop dust getting into the machine while it's being stored, or so? I attached the drain hose to a large, lidded plastic tub and I simply empty that every day, as the internal tank is very small, allowing it to run all day if I need it to, especially during the colder months. Just make sure to empty it regularly if you do this too, and secure the hose so that it can't fall out or be knocked out by curious pets, and make your floor wet. The machine is easy to clean - You can take off and vacuum the filter every couple of weeks. I even go as far as unscrewing the back panel and gently vacuuming the finned coil with the brush attachment every three or four months so that it stays efficient, but I do this at my own risk, as its delicate. I also run a pipe cleaner through the drain hose attachment point, into the bottom of the drain tray inside the machine to stop it getting blocked. Only other thing is that it's a little noisy compared to the larger dehumidifiers that I have for different rooms. If the fan's on full, it has the same noise frequency as a washing machine motor on its spin cycle, so that can get quite disturbing if used in a bedroom at night, especially as the blue lights on it are very bright, too. If the fan is put on low, it'll cycle between high and low randomly as it defrosts its coil, and I found the varying pitch to be more annoying than a constant pitch. If you have a large bedroom and keep it in the opposite corner of the room though, it might be bearable - I've got used to it now, and even miss it when it's not on.

Good brand
I had a Netta dehumidifier which lasted a good few years. This was a replacement for that one which finally stopped working. So far I think my old one was better than this one in some areas, while this one is better in some ways. The noise level s quieter, the design is neater and looks smaller. I like the colour indicators and the number display on the front as well as the top. I no longer have to get up and walk across the room just to see what the humidity level is. The things not as good are: There is no flap to direct the air flow from the fan. So it causes a draught on you regardless of where you are in the room. The fan doesn't seem to stop no matter what setting or mode it is on. The previous one would bring the humidity down by -0.5 past what is set, then stop until the room reached +0.5 above set and would start again. With this one it brings it down to the number set and the keeps it there. Never stopping for any periods of time. The moment I turn it off it claims my room is 70% but right before switched off it claimed my room is 60% I do have an independent, reliable humidity detector and it claims my room is 56% so I am yet to decide if this one is as accurate. This is without drying washing in the room. Because this one spends more time active than the old one I do think it will cost more to run it The tank on my old one was clear & dark and situated on the front. This one is non see through other than a small window and is stored at the back where I can't see it. I preferred the front storage for the water tank. Te tank is smaller too. In conclusion it is a nice machine that will do the job but lacks the functionality even within the modes that claim to function specific ways. The fact is that it doesn't function how it claims if it is always continuous in order to maintain 60% or 55% etc that I set it to.

Will dry washing
We wanted a dehumidifier to try and cut down use of tumble dryer. Settled on this on and I am happy with it. Touch controls on the top are simple to use. Monitors room and displays humidity figure on the front and top so you can see the level dropping as machine works. I followed the simple instructions and set the desired level of humidity to 40 so the machine stops when reached. Used to dry 3 lots of washing and that is the first time having to empty the 4 litre tank, checked the room seen letter FL flashing on display and the machine had auto cut off as tank full. Other reviews talk about how hard it is to remove and replace water tank so I made a video of myself doing it for the first time. If u line up the tank with the grooves and hold it at an angle it's not that hard to do. The tank fills up to approx 10ml from top and in removing it I did spill a small amount of water but it was a small amount. The noise level is ok I have not tried other machines to compare but have sat in the room and watched TV with this running and it's a background noise that didn't bother me. Sleep mode quietens the fan a fair bit and if for a bedroom this would be acceptable to me. I don't have a smart meter so can't confirm if the stated running costs are accurate but I'm sure it will save money over a tumble dryer. Have left on once overnight and the other 2 loads of washing dried during the day it does take a good few hours to dry in a small room and really thick items of clothing take a lot longer. Overall I think it's a good investment it works well and is easy to use.

Compact and effective
Our house is poorly ventilated and after getting the windows replaced we started to get some damp issues. Having tried various moisture crystal things to try and help it I thought it was worth getting an active dehumidifier. The device is about the size of a carry-on suitcase and has a reasonable length power cable. The cable is long enough for most situations. The instruction manual is relatively easy to understand but it would be nice if the translation was a bit better. Nothing serious but it would make a couple of the instructions a bit clearer. Powering it on and setting it for 40% and letting it run for a few hours showed that it was being effective. Initial humidity was about 70% and after about 5 hours it was showing 48%. The water collector had quite a lot in it - I should have measured it! So it certainly seems to be doing the job. Obviously this is just a short test and longer term will hopefully give a better idea off effectiveness. Regarding noise, it isn't quiet so you probably wouldn't have it running over night in a bedroom. It is probably similar to a hotel aircon unit running. Given how much you can spend on crystal dehumidifier traps and in our case they were not that effective getting this device could be more cost effective. So far I am very impressed. Update: After a couple of weeks of use I remain impressed. On average it is removing about 2l of moisture a day. There has been a significant reduction in the condensation on windows that was really noticeable first thing in the morning. You do get used to the noise but it can be intrusive - we live in a quiet area with little outside background noise. If you lived somewhere like my mum near Heathrow and near constant road and aircraft noise it would be less obvious. Excluding the purchase price, running costs seem to compare favourably with buying moisture absorbent crystals and much more effective. Update after 4 year. Sad to say that the unit has died. Specifically the motor bearing has failed. I would normally try and replace the motor but from what I can find that would now be about £50 or half the original price. Don't want to spend that sort of money only to find something else fails a bit later. Still like it and would buy another one. Only thing I would have liked is a timer to control when it would be on and off but otherwise works really well.

An effective dehumidifier for a reasonable price
My partner and I just bought a house that has some leaks/damp and whilst we're trying to fix the root cause, the dehumidifier is working in the background to remove it. Some observations: PROS: - The dehumidifier is effective. When we had a drier house (during the heatwave) less water was being extracted from the walls. Since the rain has restarted, there is a lot more water being extracted. It's clear that it is working, and working well. - The dehumidifier collects water in a little tray in the back. The tray slides out and can easily be emptied. - The dehumidifier is relatively quiet. That is, there is a hum and it's unlikely people would comfortably be able to sleep in the same room as it, but it is not loud enough to hear from a room away, or from above if it is upstairs. (It doesn't create shake the ceiling or anything). - The instructions are really easy to follow for set up and use - there are diagrams that can assist. I always struggle to follow instructions but I had no issue with these. - There are various functions including the humidity/fan speed, a timer and an automatic setting. The latter options allow you to set the dehumidifier and for a specific period or until the tray fills up, which is ideal for when you're out. (It won't overflow) - The dehumidifier comes with a little tube so it is possible to connect it to a bigger container to allow it to drain for longer. - I've left the dehumidifier on for 12 odd hours and it continues to work well and not overheat. - Very lightweight and has a handle on the actual dehumidifier which is incredibly helpful for moving between rooms. CONS: - The tube that comes with the dehumidifier is short (approx 60cm or so I would say). It's not long enough to reach my bathroom/drain so I have had to utilise a large container as a drainage system. The only down side with that is that there isn't a way to 'stop' the drainage, so if you're away, you could risk it overflowing. - I've tried to find replacement tubes but I have not been able to, even on Amazon & in B&Q. - To set up the tube (and the water draining via the tube rathe then the tray) there's a part of the tray you can 'pop out' to fit the tube through. Frustratingly it's incredibly stuck on the dehumidifier that I bought. I've tried using a tool to pop it out, but it risks cracking the remainder of the tray, so I've resorted to just using the tray again. - The wiring isn't all that long too, so depending on the size of the room, an extension cable may be necessary. All in all, it's good value for money and I would recommend it to a friend, but going forward there are some parts that could be addressed to improve it. There are ways around it but if the issues were fixed the product would be even better.

Powerful and reliable machine.
I'm obsessed with dehumidifiers, my house can get damp and dehumidifiers are a great solution for sucking all that moisture away, I've had this one about 10 months now and it's still going strong with daily use, I think it's the best dehumidifier I have owned so far, it's powerful, it's slim portable design with wheels and a carry handle make it easy to move around the house, the tank is a little smaller than others I have owned but honestly that doesn't bother me at all, it stops when it's full, you empty it and off it goes again, it's so satisfying pouring out all that water down the drain that would otherwise have been floating around causing damp issues, great for drying clothes too, put it next to the clothes horse and it will suck your washing dry, a tip for faster drying, point a fan at your washing to gently blow it (artificial wind). Another tip I just discovered, this is a compressor type dehumidifier, which is great, but they don't like low temperatures below around 14 degrees, so for areas that get damp in winter months that you aren't heating, I do not heat my whole house, can't afford it, crazy cost of heating a home these days! They cease to work effectively, a solution to this is a desiccant type dehumidifier, I recently purchased one of these too, they're a little more expensive but don't mind the cold and continue to work at much lower temperatures, up to zero I believe, I love mine. Thanks for taking the time to read this, I rely very much on people's reviews when making a purchase, so it feels good to return the favour.
