Pricey for just something that holds a sponge but somehow worth it. I’m going for warm, cozy earth vibes in our kitchen and I love anything travertine so when I saw this, I had to have it for my kitchen. I felt silly spending this much on a sponge holder but I know travertine isn’t cheap either. It’s great quality and looks really nice on the kitchen countertop.

This is a very stylish travertine kitchen sponge holder, and is heavy and well-made.The problem is, my sponges tend to seemingly drip from the corners, especially my two-sided scrubber sponges that have a slight "wave" to their shape. ("Scotch-Brite" scrubbers, that you can get anywhere.)As a result, the residual soapy water from the sponge doesn't end up in the receptacle, but on the countertop.I tried various positions for the sponge, but water being what it is, it seemingly always found its way to the low spot, unless I jammed the entire end of the sponge into the holder, and not lying in the groove as shown in the photos.Perhaps if I have perfectly rectangular dish sponges, with a completely flat edge, it would drain properly.Anyway, if looks wonderful, classic, and slightly rustic. I gave it to my girlfriend.
