Sure-Grip Zero Nuts Bearing Cover

I changed my wheels pretty much everyday and sometimes twice a day because I have wheels for trail outdoor and also for practicing my tricks indoor. I bought these not for the look only, but mainly for its lightness and its design (sheilding my bearings). I use them mainly for outdoor skating and I often run through the grass too, hence, the need for the " bearing sheild".

They seem to be serving their purpose. These covers replace the traditional nut and washer that goes outside the bearing. Giving four stars because they're not as sturdy as thought they would be. The first one I cranked on too tight, and messed up the nut so I couldn’t screw it on and off as easily. It still works, just requires a bit of special attention with my skate tool to remove/tighten. The rest of them I was more gentle with tightening them. Take it from me—these plastic bearing covers are not meant to be cranked on as tightly as traditional nuts! But they will still keep your wheels on plenty tight enough and add a pop of color to your skates.

This seemed like such a good idea because I trail skate a lot of beach bike trails, and I wanted to give my bearings a little more protection. I tried them for the first time on a flat beach path today. The zero nuts were loosening roughly every like quarter of or half a mile. I didn’t feel safe skating any further knowing these plastic nuts were gonna keep loosening so I had to leave early. Sucks! It’s a great concept but terrible execution.Save your money and get some bearing cleaner instead.

I wanted to try these since I had some annoying lateral "jiggle" I couldn't get rid of between the normal nut and my bearings. I'm so happy with these - I tighten all the way down and then back off by one quarter turn and they give the perfect spin with next to no "jiggle." I swap my wheels about twice a week and these show no signs of stripping so far.Also, they look freakin sweet and feel lighter than metal nuts.

I love these things. They work great and stay in place just fine. I was worried that they would come unthreaded, but that has not been my experience. They help provide more shielding for you bearings by keeping destructive dust and dirt out. Plus the side that faces the bearing has a lip designed to eliminate the use of any washers. The color choices are good too. I have bought these multiple times.

So far they are holding up. I was worried that since they are plastic, taking them on and off to clean my bearings would strip the groove. I havevtaken them off a few times and so far they are still tightening fine. I always keep a couple extra on me incase a wheel flies away on me. As far as keeping out sand and grime, it's definitely better than not having them. Sure Grip should make covers for the inner bearings as well.

I ride almost daily near the beach so lots of dirt and sand. I feel these nuts will keep my bearings clean longer. The strength and hold seems as good as the metal nuts... might even be a better grip? I got these when I replaced my bearings specifically to extend the life of the bearings. I believe they will.
