Easy to use to clean ice maker and less time consuming than using just vinegar

My machine is always filled with filtered water but my water out of the tap is very hard. My ice got a funny smell and taste so I ran this powder through it as a last resort. The powder seemed to work very well, I ran the cleaning cycle with this in it and then drained it. The ice stopped being bad and it seemed to work. I loved that this is a less caustic chemical than the stuff I've used in the past. Everyone advised me to use white vinegar instead of the harsher chemicals, but the smell of vinegar is too off-putting for me. When I tried to use it, I had to do so outside. This is far easier on me and I'm not as worried about ingesting traces of the chemicals.

It was quite expensive for a short period of time

If you have an Opal you have to take care of it. They work so well all the time, but cleaning them at least every couple months is an absolute must. My cleaning regime has always included the diluted chlorine bleach recommendation as well as white vinegar and now this descaling powder as well. It's simply just citric acid in a simple and easy to use pouch, but it definitely helps. The ice tastes better and it feels like my machine runs quieter. Take care of your Opal so it can keep producing awesome nuggets ice for longer.

This is easy to use to help clean the opal ice machine. You can really tell that it works by the taste of the ice after. Much Better! We have been using it monthly and will continue to use as it works!
