Excellent product
It works perfect. You can use any type of rice to make sweet Chinese MIJIU. I like the product as a powder that is very easy to use.

Good product and rice wine is really taste sweet and excellent.
Excellent product. It is in powder so easy to use. But the package(5 8g) I received had the best use before date in Oct 22. Now is July 22. Most likely I will use up it soon so I don’t care too much.

Delicious! Easy to follow instructions
This leven works really great! I've made a some batches in a plastic tub that once held pretzel rods. 1 pack makes about enough wine for 1 standard wine bottle (I recycled one to use.) There is a learning curve as to how soon to strain out the wine and stop the process. If you stop too soon, the wine is too sweet and tangy with an odd rice-y flavor. If you wait too late, you end up with a very strong liqueur that is entirely too astringent and rough, possibly benefiting from back sweetening or ageing to soften up. If you stop at the right time, you end up with a really tasty beverage, but it's strong. Sip with caution.

Easily makes great rice wine
This product works great. I first mix one packet with about a gallon of warm cooked rice, made from about 4 - 5 cups of raw rice. I scoop the rice into a glass container, almost completely close the lid, and the fermentation takes off. I usually let it ferment for 3 weeks at room temperature, which yields more than a quart (1 L) of rice wine after straining through a cheesecloth, but a good amount of wine can be collected even after a few days. The wine is rather sweet, with about 15% alcohol content, if I were to guess. The fermentation would probably be faster at higher temperatures, but supposedly the aroma of the wine is better when conducted at room temperature (about 77°F/25°C). I strongly recommend this yeast. The only drawback is that the price is a little high.
