Last a good amount of time. YES you can use it on any problem areas.

Q: How long do you heat it in a 900-watt microwave?

Mine is 700 watt and I heat for a minute and half... I would start with one minute and increase by 15 sec increment s..sorry I couldn't be more helpful

Q: How long would the heat remain?

Mine usually lasts until I fall asleep because I heat it and put it under my blankets! So my guess is about 40 minutes!
