Great wheels, look great, tires too big for my bike
These wheels look amazing. The build quality seems great.I bought these “like new” here on Amazon and some of the spokes had the black paint chipped away, but I didn’t mind. It must be painted on versus the metal being black. The only problem I had is that the tires which come on the wheel set (700x28c) were too big for my single speed conversion. The wheels couldn’t turn without getting stuck on the frame.I changed out the tires and it was fine.Cool wheel set - would buy again if I did another single speed conversion.

Exactly as advertised, works well in all kinds of weather so far, tires stay inflated, no problem.
This is a fair price for an above standard set of wheels. I ride a 49cm fixed gear State (make) bicycle and needed a replacement for my old set of wheels. This was the substitute for my old gold, deep rim wheels and although the coloring is slightly more bold and orange than my previous brass gold color, it works really well and hold up in all weather so far. I live in Portland, Oregon where we get rain, snow, ice, and sun all in one-day during the beginning of the spring season. The tires have managed to tolerate all weather so far. I keep my bicycle in the garage so it is away from the weather, but when I need to ride, it has yet to fail me. Will purchase again if I need another set.

This is a "Ehhh they are alright" wheelset kinda cheap but will do in a pinch.
So these are sweet looking wheels, only gripe is that the nuts that sit next to the wheel, got stuck to or had conformed to the thread so I couldnt get it off. I stripped the nut which basically shredded like paper so I couldnt get a firm grip with any type of tool I had. We will see how they run but after this my hopes arent to high

A Great Investment For Beginner/Internediate Riders or Fixer Uppers/Commuters
The wheels aren't the best quality but for a fixer upper Fixie they deliver. I havent ridden them yet but I'll revise if I find them to be on the noisy side like other reviews have stated. The wheels came with axle protectors to keep the axles from getting damaged during shipping but it would be nice if there was some bubble wrap to add some cushion, especially for the spokes to help prevent warping. They came with an inner tube and tread as well as the hardware to attach it, which was a + for me since I didn't expect it. I went to a nearby bike shop and all that was needed was a rear hub adjustment to the gear/cog and they were good to go. I do deliveries on my bike so I wanted to make sure it was in good condition for the upcoming NYC winter.

Can't beat the price. Decent wheels. Better than most cheap stock stuff.
These wheels are very good for the price. They come with tubes and tires, which can easily cost more than the total price at a bike shop. The silver ones look good too. People complaining about the lock ring not being tight- duh, yeah, you better tighten your cog and lock ring before you ride. I wouldn't even trust a shop to do that for me. Look up a roto-fix video and diy if you don't have the tools. Anyway, I bought these as a replacement for a rear wheel I blew up on my second beater bike and it's working great. I'd buy these again.

I thought it wouldn't fit
The wheel set fit my bike. I went from 700x25 to these 700x32. Came with everything to get back on the road. I'm coming back soon for more colors.

They're $99 wheels...not sure of longevity of the freewheel...
Just received my wheels the other day. I'm a bike mechanic, so I tossed the wheels into my truing stand to give them a look. Much like an egg, these wheels aren't the roundest right out of the box, nor the truest. While truing the wheels, I noticed some of the nipples are a slightly different size - not to too far off, but off. Maybe they have a slight stripping from the factory build.Next, the "braking surface" that I've been reading about in other comments. There is definitely a braking surface there...somewhere under the glossy paint. After installing the wheels on my commuter, I took them for a run up and down my street. In the dry, the brakes do grab, but not with any confidence.Today was my first day riding these on my regular commute. The temp was chilly with a little fog. The commute is 40 miles round trip. On a few of the modest downhills I decided to do a little brake check. With a slight mist, as soon as the pads hit the rim, boom - there's a slight acceleration, not deceleration. Okay, maybe the sidewalls need a little roughing up to brake in and allow proper braking.Approximately 6 miles into my 20 mile trip in to work, I noticed a slight grinding coming from the freewheel. I just figured it must be me being hyper sensitive to the sounds and feels from the wheels. When I got to work, I went to the facility's maintenance room in search of medium grit sandpaper. The brake surfaces were given a good sanding to roughen up the glossy paint. I didn't go too crazy, just enough to dull up the sidewalls. The ride home was a little more wet with a very light mist greeting me as I left for home. The sounds from the freewheel were now both very audible as well as being able to feel through my feet/body. It sounded like the crunch of a good conical burr coffee grinder...or maybe the freewheel was packed with croutons. Either way, I was reminded of grinding coffee and croutons, so I picked up my pace to get home for dinner. My first decent downhill on the final third of my commute home is a nice ripper that crosses an intersection with a traffic light. At about 25 mph, the light below turned red. I grabbed the brakes...and picked up another 5 mph! Hurtling towards the busy intersection, my eyes scanned the sidewalk to a manageable dumping point. With no safe option, I held on for dear life as the bike finally stopped just short of the cross traffic! So I pulled into my driveway with no breaks and possibly ground up bearing, or croutons.Bottom line is that these wheels are $99, so they aren't crazy good wheels. I think the wheel bearings are fine as they seem to be very smooth. They look decent, and they ride as if they're lighter than they truly are - they are pretty hefty wheels.I plan on putting my old freewheel on this set to ride my next commute...in dry conditions. I also plan on really sanding the heck out of the brake surface to hopefully get good braking, or any semblance of actual braking. When these fixes are complete, I'll do some more commuting and post an update with my thoughts on this purchase.
