Humax PVR-9300T
I am 100% happy with this Humax. Have been using it for just 1 month now and have had no problems at all. Connection took 2 mins and it searched for all freeview channels. The instruction manual is quite easy to follow and i have applied some useful settings i.e. adding 'most watched' channels to favourites groups etc. It is a doddle to set it to record programmes and i like the 'programme series' option (to record all programmes in a series). It can record programmes in standby mode. Picture quality is excellent. There is no noise from cooling fan.Remote is well designed and simple to use. So far i have 95 recorded programmes stored to watch including films and it has used 121.1 GB of 499.7 GB leaving 74.1% of hard drive free. I have connected it to DVD recorder to record to disc with no problem. The volume control on the remote is non-functional to my standard definition tv (connected via scart lead). I believe that the supplied HDD connector lead connected to a tv with HDD socket should then work. Thus i have to use my tv remote to adjust volume which is no real problem. Signal detection strength in menu/system shows quality 100% and signal strength 81% (in my location). I have set it to recieve automatic OTA software updates when broadcast but so far none recieved. Altogether a very excellent PVR. I would recommend this.

Won't find the channels
I bought this to replace a previous Humax that was superb until it was killed by a thunder storm. Unlike some other reviews it did have a proper manual but trust me it doesn't help. have tried changing HDMI cable and using a scart but stubbornly refuses to find any channels except BBC and the rubbish channels only morons watch ( Also very annoyingly it will find the pay channels) All this despite the fact that my Toshiba TV manages perfectly well with the same aerial and finds all the channels without interference.Even the channels it does find freeze and fade in and out.Would be great piece if kit if it worked am going to persevere and try a second one...will updateUpdate ....Replacement now received and is working as it should. The instructions seem clearer on this one and channel set up worked first time. When it works it is good so if you get adodgy one send for a replacement straight away!

Great product
Since the digital change-over and the age of Free View began my old VCR became redundant so I had no means of recording TV programmes. This devise has changed all that and in fact has revolutionised my TV watching routine. The PVR was delivered safely and speedily. It was easy to set up and the instructions are very straight forward so it went into use immediatley. I am 99% happy with the Human PVR and would thoroughly recommend it to anyone who wants to just watch Free View channels - the 1% issue is that when it automatically tuned itself in it tuned all the BBC channels to BBC Wales rather than to the transmitter in Somerset so I have to select channels 800 - 803 for the stronger BBC signal and where I can understand the lingo!

Not bad
This is decent enough... it does what it is supposed to and does not crash like my old recorder used to. The main thing I do not like about it is the readability of the menus... it is quite hard to see at a glance what you have recorded, and there are some really annoying features, like how difficult it is to cancel a recording once you have already set it up. Also we have found at times that the recorder mysteriously deletes our recording schedule every now and then, so we will miss a favourite programme and have to re- set up the schedule. It's a decent price but next time I will probably shop around for another model.

Beware of 7 day notice to return policy
I bought this Humax PVR9300T as I no longer wanted the expense of a Sky Subscription. It worked ok on my downstairs TV although the humming was a bit loud on occasions. The trouble came when I realised my daughter's TV's in their bedrooms no longer worked and as I'm not technically minded it took me a long time (especially as I work full time), to get round to sorting out what the problem was and how to sort it. Eventually I phoned someone at Freeview who offered me some technical advice and told me that I would need to get an aerial man out to split the aerial to my daughter's bedrooms. I didn't want the expense or inconvenience of this and I then found out that for a monthly subscription of £10.50 with Sky I could record freeview on my existing Skyplus HD box. Unfortunately, the provider of the Humax "Hughes Direct" have a 7 day return policy which means you have to give them 7 days notice in writing of your intention to return an item. By the time I'd sorted out what the problem was I was quite a bit over this date so I phoned them. They were not willing to accept the return of the Humax box so I'm now stuck with it having spent £150+ on an item I don't need. The 7 days return policy is lawful but I don't think it's long enough to sort things like this when you're not technically minded and work full time.

So good I purchased a second one!
Well done Amazon, another real bargain. There are a few PVR's on the market and this has to be in the top 5 as these are always highly rated. The twin tuners are of very good quality and do not drop out while viewing or recording. These are VERY easy to set up and VERY easy to record TWO channels while watching a pre-recorded channel.Playback is easy and series recording is child's play.May not be the cheapest, but will last for years with no problems, so buy one of the best on the market.
