Q: What was your experience after spilling something on it? And how easily does it tear?

I purchased a twin size smooth top protector in 2017 for my son. He’s had MULTIPLE pee accidents from potty training and as others have stated ... It did NOT get on his mattress! It’s definitely not itchy, scratchy or super thick and stiff. It also doesn’t make a crinkle noise laying on the bed. We love it so much we are buying more for our other mattresses! We haven’t had it tear at all! It’s so Deep that it won’t be too tight to cause tearing. We definitely recommend!

Q: does it have stretchy ribbed fabric/material on the sides that hug the sides of the matress? I am looking for one that is fitted on all four sides

It's not just fitted on the corners, it has elastic around the entire mattress pad/cover. It fits so well! It goes on easily, doesn't slide around and never comes off unintended.

Q: Does this entirely cover the mattress or is the bottom oppen?

This mattress protector is designed to fit like a fitted sheet and does not entirely encase the mattress. Q: Does this fabric rip easily? I'm looking for use at a fire department and the ones we bought in the past rip/ tear very easily. Heavy duty?

Doesn’t seem to tear easily but the backing disintegrated over the last 4 years. Throwing away since no backing remains in the center area.
