Eco-friendly and effective flossing tool
I’ve tried a lot of disposable floss picks over the years, so I decided to try the GUM Flossmate to cut down on waste and make flossing easier. After a couple of weeks of use, I’m honestly glad I made the switch. The first setup takes a minute to figure out how to wrap the floss correctly, but once you get the hang of it, it’s quick and simple. The floss stays secure and doesn’t slip while using it, which was my main concern. I also like being able to use my preferred floss instead of being stuck with preloaded picks. What really surprised me is how much easier it is to reach the back teeth. The handle gives better control, keeps the floss taut, and feels more effective at getting between tight spots. It’s also much more comfortable on my hands, especially for thorough flossing. The handles feel sturdy and well-made, and since you’re only replacing the floss, it’s a much less wasteful option. The only downside is that it’s not as fast as grabbing a disposable pick if you’re in a hurry, but for me, the trade-off is worth it. Overall, if you want a more controlled, durable, and eco-friendly way to floss, this is a solid choice. I actually prefer it over regular flossing now.

I love this Floss Fork, even more so after enhancement
About 20 years ago (pre-2005), I bought a 3-pack of these forks from a CVS pharmacy. I gave two of the forks to my folks and kept one for myself. I love this fork because it holds the floss well and precludes floss strangulation of my fingers. I initially liked the relative equivalent use of the floss string compared to finger wrapping. Similar to finger wrapping, it does require about 6 inches of string before and after the fork span that can never be used. That said, as time went by, I learned to use a somewhat longer length than needed for a flossing session, then unwrapping and reinstall the floss after progressing it forward two or three inches to an unworn portion of string. In that way the same piece of string could be used for 5 or 6 floss sessions. I was flossing my teeth every day like this until, after only 20 years, the fork broke! Happily, I was able to find them for sale on Amazon, so I bought another 3-pack. The new ones are virtually identical to the old ones. Now with the new ones, another efficiency idea came to me. If the blind hole in the handle’s base is drilled-out and a narrow slot cut into it, then even longer lengths of floss can be installed by wrapped string though that hole. Doing so greatly increases the number of flossing sessions that can be had per length of string. I wrap one or two lengths through the hole, and it works quite well (see photo). Alas, for some unknow reason Amazon cannot download this simple, unenhanced, unaltered photo. It repeatedly says to try again, and again. This has never been a problem in the past, but of late it now happens sporadically.

Only OK
While it seems to work well in terms of attaching a piece of floss, it seems to lose tightness pretty quickly in use, meaning one has to either re-tighten it or put a new piece of floss in. Apiece of floss broke, but that was probably my fault.

Pretty good
Pretty good, you sometimes have to hold the ends of the floss for it to stay tight

Makes Flossing So Much Easier!
Makes Flossing So Much Easier! I’m so glad I found the GUM Flossmate Reusable Floss Handle! I’ve always struggled to reach my back teeth with regular floss, but this little tool completely solved that problem. It’s sturdy, easy to hold, and makes flossing quick and painless. I love that it’s reusable — I just thread new floss through each time, and it’s ready to go. It’s also super easy to clean, which makes it both eco-friendly and budget-friendly. My dentist even noticed an improvement in my gum health at my last checkup! If you find traditional flossing awkward or messy, this handle is a total game changer. Highly recommend for anyone looking to make flossing a daily habit without the struggle!

Save the environment from floss pick waste!
These things work great. We bought them primarily for our kids to use and they work great. Makes flossing much more approachable for the single digit ages and also works great for the adults too. I know some reviews say the floss slides off and such, but if we've never had a single problem so long as you wrap it good on both ends (one wrap around the button start and end) and then in the grooves up and around. Uses less floss than doing by hand, super easy to clean, solid and durable feeling plastic, and WAY cheaper and more environmentally friendly than tossing thousands of floss picks into the oceans. Can't recommend this enough!

It works, I guess
I usually use floss picks to floss my back teeth since they’re hard to reach I figured I could save some money and have less waste if I used this with my regular floss instead Expect it’s very wide, over half the size of my mouth So, while I can technically reach my back teeth I have a hard time seeing if I’m flossing each one, to the point where I keep trying thinking I missed a tooth and each time I use it I have to pull the floss more because it’s not tight enough when I put the floss in the first time If I can’t find a smaller size then I’m going back to floss picks

An essential part of my ultimate daily dental care.
One of these used daily plus an electric toothbrush used 2x/day is your ultimate dental care. These give excellent control and force all the way into the molars, with dry fingers. A unit will last years before the plastic ages enough to fail, and when it fails, it will be in your hand as you shift the floss & squeeze the forks for tension; there is no risk of failure within your mouth. Use one of these and you'll never want a tiny disposable version again. Before this I neglected flossing as I disliked finger-flossing as well as the mini-flossing forks. Train your children on this method and their teeth won't cost as much to maintain as mine did!

Nice & Simple
Perfect as you are able to use the floss you want & get the added flexibility of how the handle can get to places where your fingers cannot.

Works Well for Adults, But Not for Small Mouths
I purchased this floss handle hoping it would make flossing easier for the whole family. While it works perfectly fine for me, I have to say it's not well-suited for smaller mouths. I found it difficult to maneuver inside my 11-month-old's mouth, and even my 5-year-old struggles to use it effectively. The handle is simply too large and bulky to comfortably reach all the teeth in a child's mouth. It's a great tool for adults, but I wouldn't recommend it if you're specifically looking for a flossing solution for young kids.
