I had originally bought an analog type bore gauge. The spring loaded housing that houses the contact point seemed a bit loose and I wondered if that would negatively impact any readings.I went ahead and bought this one. This has an LCD digital read out. Its housing was not as loose. After zeroing out the gauge, I used it to measure some cylinder bores and I feel it was providing accurate readings.I did reached out to the makers customer support and they never replied, so can’t give that a thumbs up.I would recommend this item.

Bought this for my engine rebuild. I had to figure out how to measure with it as the instructions are not the clearest. It’s good to 3 decimal points, plus a half thou when exceeded. This was enough for my purposes. If I need a more accurate value, I use a Plastigauge.Basically, you first need to find the right stem, potentially in combination with a spacer, that fits in the ID you wish to measure. Note that the little nib on the opposite side of the stem needs to touch and be able to deflect within the ID of the cylinder you’re measuring. Once you have the ‘dial’ indicator rigged properly, you then measure the length of the measuring end, and to determine the actual diameter, subtract the indicated ‘compressed’ value from the uncompressed length of the measuring tool. My engine piston sleeves definitely need to be replaced.

Like every tool, it has it's own "personality" and you have to use it several times to get repeatable and accurate results. I'm okay with that.My only complaint is the LCD display is difficult to read. If you're looking square on in good lighting it's fine but if you have marginal lighting or looking off axis, it's almost unreadable. In particular the - (minus sign) hardest to read.The lighting is rarely perfect and I often have to do machinist yoga to see whatever I'm working on. A good display is important.

I used this digital bore gauge to measure my piston bore, and it performed flawlessly. The digital readout is clear and easy to read, and the gauge provided consistent, precise measurements. Makes measuring bores easier as heck.For the price, it is worth it and I get repeatable measurements to .01mm Everytime. Using a telescopic gauge took me 30+sec for an inaccurate reading, this literally takes 2 sec.Only downside, is the digital dial indicator stays on for about 3 minutes until it shuts off which is good for battery, but it doesn't have any memory, it rezeros itself and I have to zero it out each time I go to measure after honing. The stem is a different size from my other quality miyutoyo dial

My sunning dial bore gauge is being repaired, but I need an economical way to do some Honda cylinders. Tool worked great, nice storage box, and very reasonable price! Would be a great bore gauge for the average home engine builder.

Accurate to 0.0005", or 5/10,000", or 0.01mm. Or "half a thousandth".In other words, the precision leaves just a little too much uncertainty regarding some particularly tight tolerances in my rebuild.Otherwise, great product all around.It's a good value, but it was the wrong tool (for me) to cheap out on.Just a matter of time until you need it and the batteries are dead though. Sure to be annoying.
