A terrifying new addition to the Dracula legend, based on a single chilling chapter from Bram Stoker's classic novel, The Last Voyage of the Demeter chronicles the doomed journey of a merchant ship ferrying 50 mysterious wooden crates from Carpathia to London. As they set sail, the crew soon discover they are not alone on board: at night they are stalked by a hidden passenger whose monstrous thirst for blood turns the trip into a harrowing nightmare of tension, terror and unfathomable evil. The Last Voyage of the Demeter. DVD. Essential for Dracula collectors.
An enjoyable horror movie concentrating on that specific part of the legend when Dracula has left his castle, making his way to England. As a Dracula fan, this made a welcome addition to my collection. I am so pleased to see the silly "camp" extravaganza of Gary Oldman fade into the past.Dracula himself is in a state of transformation during the voyage, as he awakes in search of food... No dark haired, romantic looking, handsome count here. What we witness is the Nosferatu, gradually transforming, feeding on the ship's crew as they approach Whitby. Also, see Nosferatu (2024).

LAST VOYAGE OF THE DEMETER DVD from DAZZLER
I so hoped/wanted this film to be a 5 star one. It almost is. It doesn't overstay it's welcome (just under 2 hours - perhaps could have been 10 mins shorter?). It is well acted by a cast that apart from the great Liam Cunningham was completely unknown (and not English? Not that that matters). The director has some excellently staged scenes - keeping the "Monster" hard to see until nearer the climax. The pace is slow with a build up of tension as the bodies build up. When the action occurs it is gory/bloody and violent. My problem, and mine alone possibly - A lot of the film is set during the night, and as a consequence the action is sometimes hard to follow, particularly at the all important climax. I have seen better CGI as well. But as my wife said - "That was a good Saturday Night film" and I won't argue. Excellent DVD picture, sound and SUBTITLES. Recomended for Dracula completists and those who fancy a "horror" film that is a bit different. (ONE "F" bomb)

Thoroughly enjoy this film expanding on a single chapter from Bram Stoker's Dracula novel.

Disappointing
As a Dracula fan, I've been intrigued by this movie ever since it failed to get a cinematic release here in the UK. So, needless to say, when it finally released on dvd I snapped it up. Sad to say, I found it slightly underwhelming. It certainly has it's good points: the acting and cinematography being the main ones. The film is gorgeous to look at and certainly gives the impression of having a much higher budget than it apparently did. Unfortunately, and to put it bluntly, it is just too long. The set-up is effective, the kills and finale surprising and enjoyable, but it could really could have benefitted from losing a good fifteen, twenty minutes. All in all, though, a pretty enjoyable distraction, just not the film it might have been.

Great film
I wasn't sure what to expect from this film but I really enjoyed it, very pleased with it. I thought it was well done and well acted and is one of the few films that spooked me a little.

Worth a watch if you love the Dracula story
This was an atmospheric portrayal of what might have happened to the crew of the Demeter. Good cast and beautifully filmed. The claustrophobic situation and creeping menace, as the crew are picked off one by one was very successful and there are enough scary moments to carry the film along to its inevitable conclusion.
