DickiesMen's Painter's Utility Pant Relaxed Fit

My boyfriend is very consistently a size 38w 34l. I originally ordered these pants in his size and he could not button them. They seem to run small and as some comments mention--there is NO stretch, so there is not a lot of flexibility within the sizing. I returned them and after some searching I was able to find a 40w 34l. (I'm not sure if there are two Amazon listings for the same Dickies pants or if they re-stocked or what happened,) but I was happy to find the 40w 34l and ordered 2 pairs for him. They fit him much better on the waist (he wears a belt anyway so I don't think he's worried about them sliding down at all while he's working.) He said he would rather the legs be a little bit wider (as the size 40's were,) so that he had better range of motion for working on high ladders and working on houses from the roof. They look like they fit well, just slightly more baggy than the 38w 34l but he does have thinner legs for his weight.. They definitely aren't baggy enough that he would trip on them though. I did see comments suggesting to plan for shrinkage and if these shrink a little bit they should be 100% perfect! I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND THESE PANTS AS THEY'RE A GREAT VALUE! BUT I WOULD ALSO SUGGEST SIZING UP! ESPECIALLY IF YOU PLAN TO MACHINE WASH AND DRY THEM! We haven't washed his yet as they just arrived, but they are cotton so I immediately anticipated some shrinkage prior to seeing the comments. Being a painter he often has to throw away work pants because of the amount of paint on them or tears from the kind of work he does.. I was happy to find these because they're inexpensive enough that it will be nothing to toss them out once they're too worn and buy a few more pairs! The dickies brand pants he had actually held up last year better than his "rugged blue" pairs, but the rugged blue pair were thinner and he liked those for the summer in the heat. These dickies pants seem slightly more durable and thicker for the fall/winter especially for days he is working outside. DEFINITELY RECOMMEND THESE PANTS OVERALL! As far as the customer question/comment about the "re-stocking fee and returning fee" he was charged, THAT HAS CHANGED AND WAS NOT THE CASE FOR MY PURCASE, which I think is important for people to know! I wouldn't purchase an pair of pants especially with questionable sizing if I knew I would have to pay a 45% return+restocking fee... I returned the first pair that were too small and re-purchased 2 pairs in the bigger size a few days later and I was not charged a cent for the return or restocking of the original pair!

These pants are fantastic; they are the perfect casual pants to knock around in, and if you have good styling skills, you can make them work for pretty much anything but a wedding or a funeral.I have an average thin build, some curves, but not "curvy." Five foot five, 125 lbs, my Dickies men's size is 32 x 30 (same as for 874s, but that's a different review). These fit super loose (too loose to wear) when unpacked, I washed and dried them twice in hot water, and high heat, and they shrunk to the perfect fit. I cuff them once.I get compliments on them all the time, and I wear them all the time. It's the best thirty-bucks you will ever spend, I have Banana Republic trousers in my closet at $150 that I pass over in lieu of these. I got the natural color (they are not "yellow" as some reviews have said). The fabric has a nice drape, but is thick enough to not be see through. I almost don't want to tell people about these pants in case they become more known an the price goes up. lol.PS On these and my other Dickies, they are much improved by getting a ripper and taking the Dickies tag off of them. Sorry, Dickies, I'd rather people wonder where I got such cool pants.

Always reliable work pant and great price. Comfortable fit and good sizing but waist can be a bit tight after washes.

These are pretty comfortable. I've been wearing this brand for many years now,and have always been happy with the quality of the pants . Great fit,and all the right pockets. Totally washable. Good material,not transparent. I use these at work.

These are definitely a high quality pant. But the sizing is way off. In almost every other brand I’m a 34 waist. There was no way I could button these they were so small even though I bought 34s and they say relaxed fit. If you’re going to buy these, order up like two or even four inches on the waist than you normally would.

READ THE TAGS!!!People are reviewing this, talking about how it shrinks. That's because they're washing it like any other pair of pants. The tag says "Dry Clean Only."You can get away with a gentle wash, use cold water. Hang-dry it and whenever you want to wear it, put it in the dryer on low for about 10 minutes.

Bought these for working/fishing/boating to keep my 75 year old pasty white legs out of the sun. Perfect. Light but heavy enough for their actual intended use of painting/ drywall/ carpentry, etc. True to size with a little stretch. Wore while hanging a half dozen security cams. Tool loops were handy and went up & down ladder with no crotch or knee binding. So good for work or play, but not for the prom.

The pants are just the perfect size and great strong material. And I like how many pockets it has.

I was skeptical when I opened the package. The colour I ordered was not the bright white but rather the 'natural' ones. They looked really yellow. I put bleach in the first wash. They didn't really change but these are excellent, strong pants. They are going to wear in perfectly. Already I am pleased with the slightly off-white colour. They fit to size. Good purchase.

Había visto en los comentarios que pida una talla más grande por cualquier cosa y si me quedo un poco grande pero súper cómodo y con ese look super relaxed que buscaba, maybe si pedia talla 30 hubiera estado más ajustado pero equis se ve súper bien

El pantalón me quedaba muy pequeño a pesar de ser talla 28 probablemente sea 1 o 2 tallas más grandes para que quede bien.

fit well and the material is decent. Favourite thing about these pants: all the pockets and loops of various sizes for tools and brushes!
