This thing works great, exactly what I needed to add CD's to my Itunes without losing any song information. like the artists name and song info. Very compact with the usb cable attached to the player. I know it's older technology stuff, but do you realize how many CD's and DVDs still out there waiting to be gobbled up. Totally plug and play

If you have a Windows 10 PC and need an external CD/DVD drive, this is the one for you! The Rooful External CD/DVD drive is as simple and easy as it gets - just plug it into a USB-C (or USB 3.0) port and Windows instantly recognizes the newly-connected drive.A few additional pros:- It is very lightweight.- The cable fits nicely into a cutout on the bottom of the drive, making it very easy to store and carry.- Both data and power come from the single USB-C (or USB 3.0) cable. There is no need for a separate power cable or bulky adapter.A few additional thoughts:- Just as with any CD/DVD drive in Windows, you must have the right software to read from or write to discs. This is not a limitation of this product - it's a well-known and long-standing "feature" of Windows. The instructions sheet that arrived with my drive included recommendations to 3 separate CD/DVD software players. If you are unable to overcome this then you should contact your child or grandchild for assistance!- I would highly recommend purchasing a padded carry case for this drive if you plan to store or carry it. Just like any other electronic equipment it could be easily damaged from bouncing around in a laptop bag unless it's properly protected. I found links to several of these cases in the "Related Products" links on the Amazon product page.- The performance of this drive is much slower than internal drives. Again, this is a limitation of the design (external/USB), not a deficiency of this product.- The cover of the model I purchased is White, like really White. I couldn't tell from the product photo whether it was gray or white. My laptop is gray and I was hoping to get a match, but there didn't seem to be a gray option (only black and white). This is not a problem, just an observation.Bottom line - this product works exactly as expected and is a perfect solution, especially for this price point!

I’ve been using this drive with my MacBook Pro laptop for quite a few weeks now. It has been working flawlessly for reading/playing music CDs as well as videos. Also has continued to work great as a CD burner.I’ve not needed to supply it with external power, as it gets sufficient power from the USB-C connection on my MacBook Pro laptop. I’ve also used it on my older 2013 MacBook without any problems. Having the flexibility of using either USB connection available on the integrated cable, without needing another adapter cable, is very convenient and practical. Be careful when placing a CD in the pop-out tray, as I suspect if you place too much downward pressure on the CD when putting in the drawer, it’s possible it could break. Not a big deal, as I typically support any tray, when popped out from the drive.I wish the manufacturer had also included some sort of slip-in case to protect the drive. I’ve just continued to use the box from the manufacturer when I don’t plan on using the drive for a while.One niggle with it from a design & long-term use perspective: while there’s a nice cable storage groove in the bottom of the drive for placing the cable when not in use, in my opinion the additional “side exit” groove for the cable to run out the side when in use is far to close to the point where the cable exits the internal portion of the drive. This causes you to have to put a 90 degree bend in the cable at the point of the side exit groove, if you use that when the drive is in use. I think that 90 degree bend is to severe at that point, and worry it may cause an issue with the cable after long term use with repeated banding to put it in the groove, so I typically don’t use that.

Nice external CD/DVD Drive. It's working well on both my Mac and Windows computers. It was plug and play on both computers. No additional drivers were needed.

Works perfectly and is easy to hook up to the laptop.

Garbage quality. I have a stack of cd's I was trying to get transferred onto my computer. Only about half of them will load. Now the cd's are in great quality. They play perfectly well in the car. But in this cd drive they spin for about a minute endlessly until finally spitting it out. Not worth your money, time, or aggravation.

Worked as expected. I wanted to transfer some old photos scanned to a CD onto my MacBook Air and it did the job. I had to use a USB to USC connector to get my laptop to recognize it.

Great product and fast delivery.

i still like cds, so going away was a problem. this played cds and dvds. so plenty to listen to when getting going, then watch when winding down. was a brilliant choice. just used with laptop. should connect with mobile also. at this point i am happy enough not to doubt it

Ordered this External Optical drive last month, because my new portable PC did not have a DVD reader/burner.I received the Roofull model ECD829-Y. within days. I just had time to test it today. Very easy to use, plug & play. I used it to back-up my yearly photo albums for 2019 and 2020 plus all of my scanned files. It performed flawlessly for the 3 DVDs that I burned.I found that with the USB-3 interface, it performed and burned the DVDs as fast as the drive in my tower computer.Looks very well made, came with USB 3.0 Type A, USB 3.0 Type C connectors plus a separate cable to provide extra power if the laptop did not provide enough power on it's own. Very handy and ready for any eventualities. I am very satisfied and would recommend this product to anybody.

First of all, I was impressed with the quick delivery. Came in at least four days before expected. Second, I was very pleased with the quality of the product. It is quick, easy to use. It worked with most of my photo cd’s. Only two were not working. Froze up my whole computer, but I don’t believe that was the fault of the product, but rather the fault of my cd’s.

Roofull is a big BOGUS and FRAUD for their warranty and don't ever purchase of any products from them
