It even spends time on some position-specific players such as notable goalies. For those readers who may not be hockey super fans (before reading this book), it also includes hockey-related vocabulary. So, after reading this, you can discuss hockey with the best of them. Lastly, a really nice feature of this book is that it comes with a comprehensive reference list. For those readers who would like to explore this topic further, these are terrific sources. In all, this makes a perfect gift for any sports enthusiast, hockey lover, or just anyone who likes a good collection of facts and anecdotes. Although it was designed for younger readers, I think it could appeal to adults as well.

“500+ Fun and Fascinating Hockey Facts for Kids” is basically a list of over 500 hockey facts for ages 6-14. Though it doesn’t specify the age on the cover, it does on the Amazon website, and parents are going to check that out before buying it. The facts are interesting, though I’m not sure they would keep a 6 or 7-yr old’s interest for long. I think a book that lists facts like this in numbered fashion is more suited to older kids, especially ones who already know what hockey is and how it’s played. This isn’t an introductory “How to Play Hockey” book, nor is it intended to be. And no 10-14 yr old I know (and being a teacher, I know a lot of them) would like being called “my little pal, my little fellow, little champ, my little smart buddy” etc. which is far more suited to first and second graders. If I called any of my students one of those, I’d be laughed out of the classroom. So I would opt to fix that and specify an appropriate age group on the cover, which would likely be ages 10 and up. The tone is engaging and the book does need some light editing, but overall it’s a book that will interest kids who are either thinking of, or have already begun, playing hockey.

I have a daughter, but I love getting things like this to help us learn facts about topics and be able to see like when we can make it all when watching sports. Fun and good little book!

I really love the way this book was written. It wasn't just simply facts, there were engaging stories and pictures and inspirational parts all throughout the book that keeps you intrigued. My grandkids absolutely loved going through this book as they're just getting into hockey. I also enjoyed learning so many things I hadn't known.
