What color is the background fabric? Pics in Amazon listing look like a medium beige, but many user photos look much lighter, like a cream white. ??

The color seems to be a light beige depending on how you look at it. I bought two, and had set them side by side, they still looked like one beige and one light beige. On the Lamps they are gorgeous! So, I don't mind. I can't put the pictures (Amazon wants a video now.) But, what I said above is the right explanation.

Which size harp does this lamp require?

It's a spider shade. So it just screws on the top with a finial. The lampshade is 12 inches by 12 inches, so the harp probably needs to be within that height, and no taller or it would look weird. It would probably fit just fine, as it just fastens at the top, but it wouldn't look very good.
