Aesop's Fables (Macmillan Collector's Library)

Classic fables I grew up on with lessons on life and how to treat others--and consequences both good and bad depending on our choices. Years and years down the road, and I find the lessons in this book to be completely true! haha..Love these.

Love Aesops Fables! I grew up on these stories and got this to share with my soon to be little girl. I only wish it wasn't so small.

This book is very expensive considering that the author is long dead and they don't have to pay Aesop for his fables. It is a nice enough little collectors thing, but it's printed and bound in China, so actually the quality is really poor. If it wasn't such poor quality it would be worth the expensive price, but it is very small and the paper is like what you would find in a glossy pamphlet. It's sad to see such a cynical move on the part of the publisher to sacrifice quality and maximise their profits, especially when we have always had an excellent printing industry in the UK. It was always a point of pride for me when I used to see books in the US or the Middle East published by Clays in my home town of Bungay, but this is increasingly rare to see. It is a real shame, and I've noticed the quality of books going down in recent years. I know Macmillan is a business trying to make money, but they are also making 'collectors books' and purport to have a look for the written medium. From this book, I can tell that their only love is fat profits, at the expense of the book lover.

For the price this is a great quality product, gold edges, printed end papers, a nice hard cover with a removable dust jacket, colour illustrations, what more can you ask for.

It's a awesome collection of fables ...each story is perfect in a way and still intriguing in delivering the message

Un livre qui mérite d'être dans la bibliothèque du chaqu'un. Les histoires sont souvent tristes mais...elles reflètent la pensée de l'époque. Je recommande.
