Love, Rosie [DVD] [2017]

"Never Assume Trouble Isn't Around the Next Corner"
That line of Rosie's describes the plot of the film pretty well. Rosie and Alex have been friends and best mates ever since their early childhood, but somehow they keep missing the moment when it comes to taking the next step in their relationship. So life gets in the way and separates them. Again and again, pretty much every time they meet up. Yes, the end is predictable, but the road there has all the twists and turns and ups and downs and numerous pot holes of an Irish country lane. The fun of watching this lies not in speculating how it will end, but what obstacle may lie around the next corner and how it'll be overcome. The casting is perfect. Lily Collins is sweet and young enough to be convincing and lovable as Rosie, Sam Claflin has exactly the right kind of boyish charme to make the somewhat confused character of Alex work. My favourite character was Rosie's worldly wise friend Ruby, played by Jaime Winstone in a winning performance, with Lorcan Cranitch as Rosie's supportive dad also worth a mention.I have just one tiny little problem with the film: The source novel is set in Ireland, it's written by an Irishwoman (for heaven's sake, her father is a one time Irish prime minister!), it's unmistakably filmed in Ireland - yet for some strange reason they have painted the green pillar boxes red and put British licence plates on the cars and try to make us believe it's England. For anybody who knows Dublin and environs, this is just a bit weird. I suspect it's similarly disconcerting for viewers on the other side of the Atlantic who are familiar with the real Harvard and Boston and/or the Canadian fiming locations used.Overall, the film is a refreshingly different little romcom which provides an hour and a half of easy escapism. The acting is good, the leads supremely likable. Well worth watching. The DVD includes several extra features: Interviews with actors Lily Collins (Rosie) and Sam Claflin (Alex), also with Cecilia Ahern who wrote the novel, and there is a making of featurette and a music video.

Great film :)
Item arrived well within estimated delivery date & in great condition.Having read the book (Where rainbows end - by Cecilia Ahern) I was prepared for it having no resemblance to the book at all. However, I was pleasantly surprised. The characters have great chemistry & some actual laugh out loud funny moments. Given the length of the novel, it's understandable that the film needed to cram a lot in & skip some scenes. This said, it still played out consistently - you wouldn't have needed to have read the book to know what it was all about.Though, my personal opinion would be that I can't help but believe this would have made a great t.v series - to capture the true essence of the book & would have allowed the story to have developed & include more history of the friendship/ relationship as told in the novel.Yet, it has actually made my list of favourite films - on point acting from both actors & not cheesy or overdone. Highly recommend. Thank you.

... arrived ahead of the scheduled date so that was good. I watched this film with no expectations
This DVD arrived ahead of the scheduled date so that was good. I watched this film with no expectations, just an old fashioned tale about two young people who were best friends and their journey in finding true love for each other (with so many challenges along the way). I thought Lily Collins was brilliant, very convincing British accent (she is American) and Sam, I really love the way he talks, lovely clear voice and a natural British accent, a delight to listen to. Although I enjoyed this film, I thought some scenes were too rushed or fast paced especially the ones where Rosie and Alex were children. I also thought some topics were rushed/crammed into the allotted viewing time. Despite this, I would recommend this film. I would like to see Lily and Sam in another film together, excellent chemistry, good acting.

Brilliant chick flick I LOVED watching Love, Rosie.
I loved this just the ticket for those days when you feel really stressed over life and you spend 1hr 40mins, laughing, crying, laughing and crying, and just totally enjoying a wonderful romantic film.OK yes predictable but who cares. It was a great BRITISH movie with good actors, and great scenery, a bit of England, America, sad bits, laughter bits, omg i nearly wet myself at the beginning and the condom it was so funny and sort of sad at the same time. To bring the guy in from the lift at the end was priceless lol.One of my favorite movies and I will watch it again.I think people expect way too much of movies just enjoy it for what it is, a bit of escapism. At least it wasn't full of sex and violence.

BEST MOVIE I'VE EVER WATCHED
Half of it didn't make sense, where the hell is it supposed to be set, how did she managed to buy a house that big on a minimum wage job and what the hell happened to her little brothers? All questions never answered. However, was this the greatest movie I've ever watched? Yes, yes it was. This cinematic masterpiece combines all of the pain, romance and laughter of the classics into an amazing, brilliant, wonderful movie. Anyone who leaves a bad review must have covid cause they ain't got taste. A classic that's all i can say.

Loved it!!
Loved the film!! Its about Rosie and Alex, who have known each other since they were kids and they go their separate ways as they approach university. They both have other relationships and eventually they realise that they should have been more than friends all along. I throughly enjoyed it. 😊

Rom-Com lovers eat your heart out!
Fell in love with this right from the start! A good one for those of you who love rom-coms! Typical storyline and one of those that you could easily fall in love with. Didn't want to switch it off as I did not get bored with it at all. Shows daily life and what we go through to achieve the results we want! If you are a hopeless romantic then this is the one for you as it will have you captivated from the start!
