This shirt is a nice hybrid: It's a heavy-weight work shirt, a light-weight welding jacket, and a reflective night protection, all rolled up into one. It fits very well -- a little on the loose side for a shirt; but I think most people will be wearing it as a light outer protective layer, and for that, it's perfect.

The first thing to know is that this is not a fire turnout coat or firefighting shirt. It is a work shirt that will be resistant to a minimum level of electrical flash fire, and has a flame retardant quality so even if the shirt is burned it will not continue to burn. If you need "CAT2" Garment this one purports to be that. On the plus side are the safety reflectors built in. A garment like a safety vest is often made out of a version of one plastic thing or another, which is a nasty material to be wearing if it catches fire.Having said that, my intended use is somewhat off label. I spend a reasonable amount of time in the mountains, partially for my employment, and recreationally, in Southern California. We also have horses and practice and are prepared to evacuate them in the event of a wildfire since stables are usually near open country. Even though it is not a firefighting garment, it is cotton -- which is a good material to wear where there are sparks flying anyway. It is also fire retardant, which is a plus if there are, once again, sparks swirling about. And the reflective material is a bonus if deployed in an emergency situation making one easier to see.Again it is not a firefighting shirt, but when there are sparks 2, 3, even 5 or more miles from a fire line it is always possible to burn a hole in your clothing, or start more flammable materials on fire. This will ride in our tow vehicle to be available in the event of a nearby situation that creates ash and smoke and sparks.One thing to note is that I am currently a big guy (6'4" 280lbs) And the 3XL fits me about right. The sleeves are adequately long which is rare for someone my height and the shirt is loose enough to be comfortable without being sloppy. (I have discovered that when you get into the XL sizes of any kind, variation among products is very high.) The shirt size ranges from small to 5XL including each step along the way As it happens they come in three colors, the khaki which I ordered has about the same color as many uniform shirts, but there is also a light gray, and a dark blue.
