Crisp picture quality, easy setup, solid projector
I’ve been through a few projectors and had issues with burn in from Chinese manufacturers that make nice looking projectors with shoddy internals, last led them a year, and claiming unrealistic brightness. So I thought I’d try an Epsom. Clearest image I’ve seen, decent brightness about the same as the others, but the audio and video quality is better than the others I’ve tried, and operates with slightly less lag in the Google tv menus. Other guys are charging $100 for a stand, this one is built in and has no problem throwing high with a clean image. Better quality than units quadruple its size here on Amazon, in a moderately sized form factor, from a reputable brand.Very happy with my purchase, only complaint is the cheap remote. The trash Chinese branded projectors on amazon have better remotes than this.

The best so far!
Love this projector! It was a bit over budget but I wasn’t happy with other projectors so wanted to give it a try and it turned out great! The second picture, my room wasn’t very dark but still got this quality! Sound quality is great too.

Absolutely silent, YouTube/Google integrated!
I originally wanted to hook up this projector to my laptop to watch YouTube, but it's actually an all-in-one home theater, so the laptop isn't even necessary! You can control it via the Google Home app on your phone. On my Samsung phone, I found it very easy to use because you can just connect your Google account to it, which you'll already have if you're using any kind of Android device. On my Apple phone, I can still install the Google Home app and use my existing Google account as well. However, note that this projector does require you to connect it to Wi-Fi in order to be fully set up with Google settings. However, you can also just set it up as a regular projector (without a Google account). The projector seems to have some kind of built-in laser that can measure the distance between it and the nearest wall, because it auto focused itself and there's no buttons to change the focus anywhere on it or on the remote. I'm assuming that manual control is available somewhere in the settings, but for me the image was already crystal-clear.There's an HDMI port on the back of it and I tested it by plugging it into my desktop, which it seemed to work instantly. It really felt like I just had a regular monitor connected, even though it's a projector. One really important thing about this projector is that it doesn't blow tons of hot, dry air and it's completely silent! I previously had another epson projector that I wanted to set up in my room, but it blew too much hot air that I felt like I constantly needed to turn it off, and it quickly became a nussiance. However, this projector feels ice-cold to the touch and does not blow tons of hot air out of the sides. I'm happy to say that this projector solved all my issues with previous projectors and I will gladly use it as my new home theater device!

Great Projector but has a few shortcomings!
Over the years I have owned a number of projectors from a number of different brands, Long throw short throw, ultra short throw (UST), infocus, optima, benq, dell, philips, etc. This new Epson EP22 takes full advantage of a laser light source making it punch well above its weight in a quiet, compact, efficient package. Warmup time is minimal with this unit and setup was an absolute breeze due to its auto focus and auto keystone in conjunction with the swivel/tilt stand. Gone are the days of manual adjustment (though you still can do that in the settings) the projector will detect the angle and adjust accordingly both vertically and horizontally. Beautifully done Epson!Once image is square, the projector walks you through a setup process not unlike other android based devices. If you are a part of the Google ecosystem already this will be all too familiar and honestly a bit tedious considering you MUST go through this process and it asks a LOT of questions before you get to the point where you can use the projector, Otherwise, it just sits at the welcome screen. I tried plugging a FireTV and a Roku in the HDMI at this stage to see if it would detect the signal but no go, had to complete setup. This is a bit annoying if you don't have or want to sign up for a google account, be prepared to do so! Epson may want to take note for those that don't want to use the Google TV portion of this. Also, this brings longevity to mind, there will be a time when the software is outdated and no longer secure enough to log in, if that time comes (assuming there is still life in this unit) and you can't use an external signal without logging in, this unit will become a paperweight!Google TV on this unit is pretty nice though can feel a bit sluggish at times (sometimes frustratingly slow particularly when running updates). Easy to navigate and familiar if you have used other google tv based devices in the past. I won't go into much detail here because this is mainly about the projector. But, setup of the apps was easy and straight forward and I was signed in to all my streaming services in no time.Started up a movie and immediately took notice of just how bright the picture was (projected in a dark room at 100in on a 1.3 gain white screen) but colors were way off. Going into settings I noticed that image was set to Vivid. This is something a lot of companies do to make the colors pop which is great for sales but not great for skin tones, dark scenes, contrast and general color accuracy. A quick move over to the Cinema setting and I was much happier with the output, still not perfect but much better in terms of color. At first, its hard to believe this is just 1080p, it is very sharp and leaves little desired in this price range. In a darkened room just about any projector will look good but the real test is when you start to add ambient light. Generally, 1000ANSI Lumens is not enough to overcome ambient light in a room, but I think this is where a laser light source really shines and why this projector truly punches above its weight as far as image is concerned. The image was bright and clear even with ambient light in the room. Don't confuse this for "as bright as standard tv" as there is always loss with ambient light but this thing produces quite the impressive picture for such a small package.Speaking of small package. This is touted as a "Portable" projector and while I get where they were going with that, technically any projector is portable, and truthfully this one isn't much smaller than some of my previous projectors. There are two things I think keeping this from being truly portable. One is the size and two is really should have a built-in battery. I wouldn't consider either of those dealbreakers for this unit though as I mentioned before it punches way above its weight in the picture quality arena!Since I have already written a novel of a review here, I will leave you with two negatives I see with this unit:First, the remote, whoever decided to use an old school infrared line-of-sight remote made a poor decision. In a day and age where just about every streaming device out there uses an RF remote, this just feel archaic and disappointing! This also means that if you place the projector behind you, you will have to turn around to use the remote. Further the remote itself is very plasticky and cheap feeling which is unfortunate for what otherwise feels like a premium device.Second, IT DOESNT COME WITH A CASE!! Every projector I have ever purchased (with the exception of my Dell S718QL came with a protective carry case, but this $1k unit that is advertised as a portable projector doesn't come with one!? Shame on you Epson, this is terrible, what's worse is because of the unique design with the bottom built in swivel stand, a standard case won't cut it so I will be on the hunt looking for something to fit this. In my opinion this is a major oversight and Epson should really think about rectifying this issue. If you are in the market for a portable projector why get one that carries the risk of scratching the lens because of the silly decision not to include a case when plenty of other come with it!Ok mini rant about a case over!Overall if you are looking for a great quality projector for on the go, at the $1k or less range, this unit is a solid choice!

The projector is fine, however has some image quality issues
What I didn't like: Unfortunately, my unit exhibits noticeable unevenness in black level (or brightness). Specifically, the bottom-right corner is noticeably brighter, while the top-left corner has a dark-blue tint. I'm uncertain if this is an isolated defect with my unit or a common issue with this model. Additionally, I've encountered significant red color clipping. What I liked: The low input lag is excellent for casual gaming; I didn't perceive any delay. In summary: While this projector is decent, I expected a higher level of quality, especially for the price point of around $1000. The significant brightness uniformity issue is particularly disappointing and, in my opinion, unacceptable at this price.
