Shame
These are advertised as "high density" but there is no material less dense on earth. Worthless for any job besides being blue. I am genuinely offended by this truly bad product. The description is not only misleading but patently false and they must know it.

it helps to control noise
I put these in a door that is in my living room that faces for the rental room, and although they are fine, it helps to control noise. And they are very easy to place. Good value for money.

Good
I use it because I'm loud while Im gaming so I don't want to disturb the people in the house and it works just remember this product don't have glue so you have to buy double side tape for it.

Mixed bag... let's hope for the best (and maybe prepare for the worst).
So, I'm hoping that I can go and update my review later, but so far, I am not liking the product. I've opened one (of 5) ordered in the hopes that they will solve my interesting problem- creating a sound/impact barrier for my media room. I question whether the density will work well enough to solve either problem.- The item comes "sandwiched" in plastic, to a degree that it will take some time to expand, and the foam may have been malformed during packaging. So far, it hasn't expanded to the 2" of thickness that it was described as in the product description.- The total surface area 12"x12" is accurate.- Look: They are dark enough to satisfy the media room darkness requirement.- Value: Questionable. They're inexpensive, but do not necessarily solve the issue.- Material: It's foam. It's going to smell and probably gas off a bit.I'll likely give it a day or two to finish "inflating" to size, and may try to adhere it to the wall. If it doesn't work out, I may try to use a backer and fabric cover to create pads for the wall, which will cost more but may achieve the desired outcome.

Big things in a small package
I ordered 2 of these because I didn't want to run out on this sound-deadening project. The surface area to be covered isn't a simple one since it needs cut panels in order to fit and be most effective. The surprise came when I opened the shipping box and- wondered where they were. (Compressed and in black vacuum packs, almost totally flat and invisible on the bottom of the box.) A plastic wrap around the heavier plastic holding them all so flat took a little time to cut away since I didn't want to damage any of the panels, but after puncturing and then sliding the heavy cover off they began to expand immediately. In only a few hours they were each almost full-thickness and ready to be installed. I used a caulking gun with silicone adhesive (that sticks to ANYTHING) laying them out first and snipping the odd rows to fit. It probably doesn't matter too much it there are small gaps, the sound will still be attenuated. This is a lightweight folding chamber that's large enough to fit over me when I'm sleeping (note: Adequate Ventilation!) because of the noisy fat people upstairs who not only stomp back and forth at all hours but also drop Heavy Objects on the floor - that are like Explosions! (How RUDE!)Ahhhhh! The benefits of not having to listen because there's a solution to excess noise!

Simple way to reduce noise
These foam pads are a straightforward solution to noise. I am using them in my studio where I do voiceovers and they do a great job of keeping the background quiet. They come squished down to about an inch for the whole pack of 12 so you will need to let them puff up. They say you can do that in the dryer if you need them immediately, but I just let them sit for a day, and they puffed up on their own. They do not come with anything to mount them with so you will need to find a solution. They recommend adhesive tape or spray but I got by with thumbtacks. The material is just soft foam and probably would not hold up under a lot of abrasion, but they are just supposed to be hung on the wall so they shouldn't have any problems.
