Cool timer
I expected this to be much more cheeseball when I ordered it. Just wanted a timer. The simple design belies an interface where you twist the bell to manage menus, and you have customizable pomodoro times and breaks with four pomodoro sessions (not more or less). It also has a timer, alarm, and opt-in HOURLY CHIME, which I wasn't expecting. To be honest, I didn't read the description, so I was surprised by the extent of functionality. Sound is adequate. I'm aware there is a little clicking before it goes off with the bell, and in-room it is audible, but I believe it's fine. Not an ugly sound.Overall, pleased.

Not a high quality or elegant item, way overpriced
I enjoy it (it’s cute and I like the bell) but it is grossly overpriced. This is not an elegant or particularly well made item. Certainly $20 would be a reasonable price, but the quality is no where near the price I paid for this. I didn’t open it right away and then was traveling so missed the return window.

Getting this started was a challenge
This is an elegant looking piece and it looks very nice sitting on my desk.Keep the user manual handy. It took me a while to get this to turn on. I have it plugged in to charge, but it may have come uncharged, which is not usually the case. I also note that most of the troubleshooting solutions involve charging the unit, so it may use up a lot of energy. Anyway, once I got it turned on, my next challenge was to get into a menu item. I got the "rotate the bowl" part, but the "press the bowl" part was not responding. It took a minute to figure out they mean, to press DOWN on the bowl, not just touch the bowl, and then it will select a menu item. Finally passed that test. The brass bowl is a bit high pitched, but I would expect that since it's only about 2" in diameter. The instructions mention it's a copper bowl, but it is most definitely not copper colored, it's brass colored. When the timer goes off, there is the thumping sound at first because the clapper starts to swing, but it takes a few times to get up the momentum to swing it far enough to hit the bowl. Once it gets that far, it rings 4 times. So, like others, I notice the thumping. The setup menu for date and time is interesting. Time actually has you set hour, minutes, and seconds. I've rarely ever seen seconds as an option on any digital clock. I do like that you can modify the pomodoro settings, although for now, I'm using the default 25/5 option.

Charming.
Beautiful little piece. Fits in decor without being intrusive. I love the soft tone instead if a jarring loud alarm in the morning. Perfect for my morning mindfulness drawings, Gently gets me out of my periods of 'flow' to stretch or massage. Easier to get back to my work afterward. Going to purchase another on.

Thumping sound before bell rings too loud (got refund)
Before buying this bell I read about the thumping sound that this bell makes before you hear the actual bell ringing. The reviews were split on this issue. Well it turns out that the thumping sound is an issue. I bought this bell for my husband so he can time his meditations. He does not like to use it because he says that the thumping sounds gets him out of the meditation not the bell sound. The mechanism that gets the bell swinging is just to loud.Update: After submitting this review the seller contacted me and offered a full refund. I gladly accepted. Thank you Excelsior USA. I look forward to an improved product.

Well Built, but Had Issues with Alignment
I recently bought this wooden timer, and it’s a beautiful addition to my desk. The overall quality of the wood and design is impressive, making it a great decorative piece. However, I did run into a problem with the bottom bowl, which came loose after a few uses. While I was able to put it back, it doesn’t align properly now, and it sticks out a bit, which makes it look odd. Despite this flaw, the timer still functions well, and I find the ticking sound motivating for staying focused during work sessions. Just wish the alignment issue didn’t happen.

If I could give this six stars, I would!
The media could not be loaded. I happened across this little gem yesterday and could not be more pleased! I wasn't even looking for an item like this, but when I happened across it, I knew I had to have it. It is gorgeous and looks like a piece of desk decor, rather than a timer. This will come in SO handy at work! I am an Oncology RN that accesses ports for patients. As most know, there is a shortage of healthcare workers in every field, including mine. Because of this, we really have to keep the socializing to a minimum, so as not to have the patients delayed in their other appointments. Our goal is to spend 20 minutes, from opening the chart, to checking them in to their next stop, either seeing the oncologist or heading up to infusion. This will keep me and my patients on track, with the most delicate bell sounding at the end of 20 minutes. You can choose which increments, by the minute. I was hoping that I could have a 30 second timer, which is the minimum time I spend on disinfecting the port site. Unfortunately, the smallest increment is one minute. When setting up this little clock/timer/countdown, pull up the live clock from your web browser and you can have the accurate time - down to the exact second! Before you use this timer for the first time, charge it for about 3 hours, initially. (It can be used, plugged in, for long term use, if you would like.) The device will enter standby mode after 30 seconds of inactivity and can be "awakened" by long pressing down on the bowl for about 2 seconds, or your desired set tap-count for each of the models. It has a 5 year warranty and lifetime technical support. If you ever need technical support, just email [email protected] Hopefully none of us will ever need it, though! There is a recessed reset button on the bottom of the device, as shown in one of my uploaded photos, if you have problems with the device not responding.
