A brilliant, back-to-basics little phone
Bit of a "culture shock" after a few years of carrying smartphones with functions that I never used. This little belter, however, is compact, light and not unattractive. I can text with it, make and receive calls and set my alarm for the morning. It's all I need and all I really want. The phone is a piece of very functional kit, not a badge of status, although it's somewhat retro look might be a talking point in itself. Easy to use straight from the box, battery life, as other reviewers have noted, is amazing. There's less to break on this phone and no need to worry about upgrading to the latest operating system, etc. Absolutely delightful and just what I was looking for.

Disappointed
I knew it wasn't going to be a state of the art phone that I ordered if it had been for my personell use, it would be going back, but, it was for a senior gent that I ordered it for, it was very flimsy and very light build, but it was the phone that he had picked, I don't think it is worth it's purchase price

Poor for texting
For the price this is a reasonable phone, the build quality is decent as is the sound quality, however it has some problems. The first is that the screen is very small and Samsung do not make best use of the screen size; when you are texting, the active screen area is extremely small as they show an address bar above the text area. Also when texting, the background colour is black and the text white...there is a flashing white cursor that covers the current letter or word making it very difficult to see what you have typed. This is a particular problem when you are trying to insert a word from a list of possible words. The predictive text function keeps turning itself off (after you have added a symbol for example) and you may have to turn it back on several times in one message deleting the wrong letters as you go. Also when texting, the letter selection can give the wrong letter, for example for a single button press, the wxyz button gives a 'w' when in abc mode but gives an 'x' when in predictive text mode. The phone has an circular ok button surrounded by a ring to control the cursor...the slightest touch of the ok button when using the cursor control will send your text before you have finished typing it; trust me you will do this many times. This is probably the worst feature of this phone; as an ok button is normally used to confirm a selection, you instinctively press it to confirm a menu selection...and it sends your text with no confirmation or the chance to stop it.This is the worse phone for texting I have ever had and after two weeks of ownership I have had to buy a different phone. If you like to send texts this phone will drive you insane.

Like being in the dark ages.
I bought this phone as a replacement for my somewhat temperamental smartphone. I needed something to see my to the end of the contract. I already had a tablet computer so did not need anything fancy. This phone fits the bill. It is very small and I have to remember where I put it as I have lost it in several bags already, it is so dinky. Going back to texting the old fashioned way is still something of a novelty, although it does take a lot longer to create a text now. I have not worked out some of the keyboard functions, but then I have not bothered with the limited instructions so that is my own fault! The only reason I have not given this 5 starts is that it has dropped off the network a couple of times, but that could be a fault with my SIM card. I have only needed to turn the phone off, take the back off (a darn sight easier to do than my smartphone was) and take the SIM out and put it back in again, generally after a good cure all blow on it and it works fine again.Overall good little phone, good value, just don't lose it...it is so small!
A**!
excellent price, good battery life & reliable - but vibrate is insufficient & number-keys have to be pressed in just right place
I've had this a few months now & it works fine - the instructions are somewhat over-brief but give the basics fairly clearly & the finer points of its functioning are fairly easy to find out, with a little patience, even for a 50-something mobile-newbie like me! - but I've had a teeny bit of help from my son of course. One point not in its favour is that, when texting, the number buttons have to be pressed in just the right place to work, which is a bit of a pain until one's got used to it - & is still a bit of a pain when in a hurry! For some unknown reason, this is less noticeable when dialling. (Could be cos I hardly ever dial!)The other point against it is that the vibrate is very quiet & motionless! (I know this from when I briefly had a different phone, but that one's battery died.) So I always have to have it on ring, which can be annoying sometimes. This isn't cos I'm deaf or can't feel; it's cos the vibrate function is insufficient. (I have perfect hearing & no feeling impediment!)However, for the price & its good reliability, it's still great value, hence the 5 stars - if the stars were out of 10, I'd've given it 9.

Brilliant mobile 'phone
So far - I've only had the 'phone a few weeks - I have nothing negative to say about this 'phone at all. It is exactly what I want in a mobile 'phone. It is small and being of the folding type doesn't dial phantom phone numbers whilst it is in your pocket. The screen and numbers are well lit and the numbers are large which is good for my clumsy fingers. The battery charges quickly and seems to last a long time. The menu is excellent, being both clear and intuitive. No bells and whistles but brilliant for 'phoning and texting - just what I wanted!
