AAD Algorithms-Aided Design

The book did a great job taking my baseline basic knowledge of Grasshopper to the next level! Architecture is my field and it did a fantastic job of laying out the basics but working all the way through prototyping phases and other examples of projects being done around the world. I love the integration of QR codes to further explore the exercises that are articulated. I often find myself referring to the book as the "Grasshopper Bible" to my peers. So glad it was recommended of Grasshopper3D website and has been a phenomenal resource to really launch me into the world of generative design. Highly recommend! p.s. I ordered it from the Amazon U.K and saved about 50% on price despite extended waiting time. If you're patient, you can save a bunch of money because not many are in circulation in the states from what I found. Cheers!

It is a portable source of relevant information for my Grasshopper needs; I design such products as concrete masonry units and carports with Grasshopper. This book is helping me close the gaps I have in the basic to advanced aspects of algorithmic designing. The part about catenaries is next up for studying. Great book. I recommend this book strongly.

I would give it 5 stars but it is starting to show it's age now the Rhino 3D is up to version 7 on Windows and Grasshopper is embedded and has had a refresh. Sometimes it shortcuts some of the basic detail for new users so you have to be prepared to do a little extra investigation in the Grasshopper documentation on the Grasshopper site. Still, there aren't too many books out there that cover this topic so still a handy go to book and nicely written.

This is the only guaranteed way to learn grasshopper. I had no idea about grasshopper before buying this book, I always wanted to learn, yet it seemed an impossible task. This book along with the videos available online have allowed me to learn grasshopper in a structured way, based on comprehension, not by memorization. Congrats to Arturo Tedeschi.

A very detailed guide to oversee the whole idea of parametric design with Grasshopper. It's not an easy read, but it explains everything as clear as possible. If you want to get your first push towards understanding the basic principles of Grasshopper, this is the book for you.

This book is a fantastic resource for newcomers to Grasshopper. After spending hours completing online tutorials and working my way through various Grasshopper resources, I finally purchased this book. I wish I made the purchase weeks ago. If you are new to Grasshopper, buy this book!

I consider myself as an advanced Grasshopper user. I was tempted to purchase this book to fill any gaps, I found the book helpful in explaining some of he principles that I usually overlook (multi-span Curves, mesh construction.....etc.). although these general ideas sounds helpful, I was surprised with the amount of theories and research papers embedded in the book, The AAD book hosts additional research publications by professors and design crits. it discusses Parametricism , Fractals , Fabrication Techniques, Rapid Prototyping , Form Finding , Optimization and how the entire dilemma of human-computer interaction is impacting our cities and the environment. If you are a grasshopper expert, you will find this book more rewarding on the values and visions of the AAD. If you are just starting with Grasshopper, this book helps as a spine to guide you with your learning journey.

Für Anfänger im Algorithmischen Modellieren, wie mich, ist dieses Buch Gold wert. Ich habe es gekauft, da es auf vielen YouTube Kanälen empfohlen wird und auch ich finde es sehr hilfreich. In den ersten Kapiteln werden alle Grundlagen erklärt und auch das Interface genau erklärt. Es werden auch viele Beispiele gezeigt, die sich anbieten nach zu klicken und auszuprobieren. Klare Kaufempfehlung auch wenn das Buch nicht grade günstig ist.

Les sources didactiques allant un peu dans tous les sens sur le net ( je parle pour grasshopper), je me suis tourné vers ce livre. En plus de l'apprentissage, le livre survole quelques pensées, ainsi que plusioeurs applications possibles. Je pense qu'il est un excellent point de départ pour tous ceux qui souhaitent s'investir dans la paramétrique.
