My go-to gochugaru for kimchi
I’ve discovered this brand of Gochugaru several years ago while searching for kimchi recipes to make at home. I keep it in the freezer where it stays fresh until I need it. I’ve been making kimchi off and on for about four years, and recommend this brand as well as mother-in-law recipes for other fermented goods. For the last batch of kimchi I made, I let it ferment in our basement refrigerator for a couple of weeks, instead of leaving it out on the counter in the summer. Best results ever, crisper vegetables, and not quite as sour a ferment, crisp and clean taste.

Sweet Spicy is fresh and tasty
I REALLY love this product and glad to find it in bulk...I wish it was a 3 pound bag as I use a lot of it. Not very spicy, just a hint, and some sweetness shines through.I make "Spicy Cucumber Chips" from the Medical Medium line up of recipes!! I'm wondering what else I can make with it!The package arrived fresh.I'll continue to buy this because it's cost effective compared to the small jars at the store.

These peppers are grown in Mexico which is somewhat better (would prefer USA)
I use gochujang but decided to buy just the pepper flakes as well. I opted for this brand because many of the cheaper popular options source their peppers from China. I avoid food products from China as a rule as I don't trust how they're grown or regulated. These peppers are grown in Mexico which is somewhat better (would prefer USA). The cost is a bit much but, with most food products, you pay a premium for peace of mind things like organic certification or, in this situation, food that isn't made in China. The pepper flakes are tasty, fresh (they come in a sealed bag and aren't totally dry so I keep them in the refrigerator), and they have a fair amount of heat. I have a big tolerance for spice so these are on par with regular old red pepper flakes in my opinion but more flavorful and worth the cost if you make Korean food.

Unique
This is a very unique flavor that gives garlic crisp its character. It is also a very veratile chili because it is more flavor than heat. I just like the Mother n Law brand over others that I've tried. It is great with citrus for salads and fresh fruits. I also blend it with other spices to create blends.

Interesting stuff....
I bought this because I wanted to try a Korean recipe. I don't even remember what it was anymore but I didn't like it. So....I had this rather large package of peppers that I had no particular use for. I did notice the the peppers in it were grown in Mexico so I thought it might be good for Mexican type food. It is. I now use it in taco seasoning, chili, and also for Chinese food like stir fried vegetables. It is hot, but not overwhelmingly hot. Good stuff.
