Neat fire steel set
This fire steel set is simple but for the price, effective enough.I've used it so far to light BBQs with a dab of twisted wood fuel for tinder and it lights up pretty good.Strikes well and produces plenty of sparks.It will eventually wear out but for a fiver at the time of writing its good value and should last well enough for most people.The built in compass, honestly I could do without.

This is pretty cool, the handle contains an emergency whistle and a compass (though that's a bit naff and doesn't work so well, but if it's all you got...)The striker has a nice edge on it, and strikes well. I adjusted the string lanyard on it so it's basically longer, enabling a good strike as it was a bit restrictive. Works a treat now.For under a fiver it's a good one and should last some time. Basically over time you'll eventually wear out the flint rod, but in the meantime it makes a lot of sparks! Strike onto fluffy dry tinder like dry grass or thin wood shavings, hey presto make fire.
