Highly maneuverable
Worked well for indexing the bell housing in my second generation Camaro.

A workable indicator and base
The indicator and base are fairly typical. They both work as expected and they are of appropriate quality for the price. The flexible arm is a bit different from the other arms I have used although it does work well when you adjust the tension (the fitting near the indicator screws in and out to adjust tension). The indicator holder works differently as well. Most attach to a fitting on the back of the indicator while this one hold the neck of the probe. So far, I like the gooseneck arm and holder. The indicator comes with an alternate back that has a loop fitting. I am satisfied with this set for the price.

It might be a little pricey
I must have at least 5 or 6 tools to set the blade height on my table saw or the bit height of router bits, as well as, other operations which require tool setting, or runout calibration. A couple I own already have digital readouts but each is hampered by the design or the materials used. This dial indicator is the most versatile tool I now have for setting tools up. I can now set up and down movement and even in and out movements, e.g. moving the fence in a few "nudges". There is one limitation, the range is only a little over an inch, but that can be worked around by simply moving the base. As for the package, it starts with nice hard case for storage and protection when not in use. This is not a measuring device to just lay around the shop. Inside there are formed cavities into which the different pieces snap in securely. Basically, you're talking about the magnetic base, the goose neck, Flex Arm as they label it, and the dial indicator all neatly placed. You get an extra battery as it comes with one already loaded. The indicator comes with an alternate back that has a loop, no directions on how it integrates with the flex arm. (Maybe it is intended for use with other like digital indicator mounts.) The Flex arm is unique (to me) in it's operation. There is an adjusting screw at the head so when you have the tension set as you like, you can lock it place. Thereafter, there is a toggle at the base that will release the tension so you can move the pointer where you need. Of course the magnetic base also has an on/off switch so you can easily move it around. Oddly, the digital indicator is not secured by a bolt through a loop at it's back, like other digital indicators, but is secured in a clamp on the encasing shaft of the pointer. See the video for an example of how I leverage the accuracy of this digital indicator. I do find it rather pricey.

HDLNKAK Dial Indicator Magnetic Base, Digital Dial Indicator Tools Set for Alignment, Precise Measurement Tool with Flex Arm Base and Indicator Combo $65.99. The base is super heavy and has a magnet that can be pulled in and out to attach to a metal bench or tool. Works great. The digital display is easily read and switches from millimeters to inches with one button press. The quality is certainly up to the standards I would expect for this price. A useful tool for aligning cutting blades and routers. I am very satisfied with this product.

The indicator is pretty good, the probe moves very smoothy, and the readout is large and contrasty. The magnetic base with the gooseneck are of interesting design, I had to get used to the goosneck. The trick is to pre-tension it using a threaded collar, and then it can be cinched down with an eccentric lever near the base. Once it's tightened, it keeps position quite stably.
