I never review products, but this flat iron is amazing. I was skeptical about it at first and was going to buy the CHI 1 inch flat iron but I'm so glad I bought this one instead. I have thick, wavy, unruly hair and it usually takes me about an hour to style my hair. What other straighteners have done in 50-60 minutes, the GVP does in 10-15 minutes. It's very similar to the CHI (maybe even better) and it's half the price. You can't go wrong. The best part is that when you use it, it not only straightens or curls but it also eliminates frizz and leaves your hair silky smooth. You can straighten your hair on Monday and if you don't wash your hair until Wednesday, it will still be straight and frizz-free - If you sleep on it or put it in a ponytail? No bumps or dents. The only weird thing I'd say about it is that the on/off switch flickers from red to green and I'm not entirely sure why. But it was never an issue in styling my hair. Really great product!!

My hairdresser uses this product. I have bought my daughter 3 CHI's in the past, but I never owned one. Now that I have long hair, I needed one but did not want invest a lot of money for a straightner so I opted to buy this one. I thought if it was good enough for my hairdresser than there must be something to it. I love this product. It heats up quick and does a wonderful job on my hair. I can use it one day, and my hair will stay straight until I wash it again (or wear a ponytail, which I do alot). I recommend this product to anyone searching for a quality straightner!!

About once a year I am usually in the market for a new straightener. They either stop heating up to their appropriate heat setting or turn off in the middle of ironing. So when it was time to buy another I did some research. I usually buy the $20-30 range, but this time I was willing to spend more to get a better quality iron. This one had really strong reviews on Amazon and other places on the internet, so I decided to try it. I've now owned it for a year and it's still going strong. It get's very hot, very quick. I do not use it at it's highest setting, I would guess somewhere around 400. I have shoulder length hair, medium thickness, some wave. It does a great job smoothing out the waves and doesn't cause any frizzing or static. I also haven't had any snagging from the plates, which has also been a big issue for me with some of the cheaper irons. The only downside is that there is no auto shut off, so I have to be diligent about remembering to turn it off. I'm hoping this one will last me quite a while and I won't be in the market for a straightener any time soon.

I ordered this straightener to replace my old Revlon one that didn't get hot enough. My intended use for this one was to not only straighten my hair but to use it to curl my hair as well. Here's a breakdown of what's nice about this straightener: It gets plenty hot and has a dial where you can adjust the heat and it has a max of 420 degrees. The plates really smooth and straighten the hair without pulling, snagging or smelling like it's burning your hair. My hair is very long (about 2 inches away from reaching my elbows) and thick. This straightens so much better than my Revlon one. The cord for the straightener is also thick and longer than I'm use to having so I have room for movement in my bathroom when straightening. Here's the downside: I really bought this to use for curling my hair. The trendy way everyone is curling hair and getting those loose spiral curls is with their flat irons. I've been after a straightener that could do both and sadly, this one simply does not do that. It advertises it can be used that way, but I have yet to successfully get it to curl even the slightest bit. If I use a real curling iron or old-school rollers my hair curls, but for some reason the three straighteners (including this one) I've had have failed to successfully even put a swirl in my hair. So bottom line, if you're looking for an affordable straightener and that's all you're going to use it for then this one's for you. But if you want those loose curls then keep looking.
