Best hoover ever
What a hoover!!! Bought this in the prime deals as our old Shark hoover wasn't doing well anymore. What made me go for this one was the fact it sucks dirt up forwards and backwards. I was under the assumption all hoovers do this but apparently not after researching. It came in one box, and you need to take everything out to see what you have before assembling. Instructions are very straightforward. Assembled well and did it by myself in a matter of minutes. Lots of information with the box about the different power modes and cleaning instructions. The handle has the on/off switch and also digital buttons for different modes (low pile, hard floor, auto detect etc) The auto detect is brilliant. If there is a purple light this means that there is still dirt under the hoover and you need to hoover slowly over it to suck it up until the light turns white. The amount of dirt this sucks up is incredible!! On a floor I thought was clean, it brings up more dust from in between the fibres. When the light changes from purple to white and vice versa you can hear and feel the power change. It is quite heavy, but with the power it comes with, I am not surprised! It is also very loud. When you first turn it on, it is almost as of it hoovers by itself. The vibrations set it going and you need to hold on. It is also very easy to dispose of the dirt in the canister. Press of a button and you carry it away to the bin and then another button to open the flap to dispose. Haven't yet needed to clean the filter so cannot comment on this part. Using the small attachments are also very good. Some brilliant tools for cleaning window blinds etc. Beware of the super suction though and perhaps put it onto a lower mode for this. Tip: when you start the hoover, you need to make the body of it click back from the roller part (like most hoovers), DO NOT let the roller part flop down. It is heavy and I reckon with constant flopping down it will damage it eventually. Instead click the body back from the bottom.

Cleans really well including pick up dog hair - powered brush FTW.
Cleans ever so well. We have a black Lab and his hairs go everywhere and this machine cleans them all up from our thick carpets. The powered brush hasn't clogged up with hair or bits of thread yet, and that's after using it for months. And it's a powered brush! This is the main reason I bought this vacuum as I was sick of turbo brushes on my Henry getting lazy over time. I love the way it comes apart at the push of a button so you can easily carry the dust collector (the bit with the motor) up the stairs to clean them. Filtration is good, three separate filters, two washable and one where you can tap out the dust. Buy yourself a spare set. The dust collector holds a decent amount of stuff, just over a weeks worth of vacuuming (we live in a fairly big semi detached gaff). The other thing I love about it is that it will happily roll from a hard floor and onto a doormat, I've never had a vacuum cleaner that does this before. Criticisms: The power cord is almost long enough to reach without swapping sockets. 1 more metre, please. The dust collector needs two hands to open it, I would like to have it open with one hand at arms length over the bin instead. It's a little heavy to push round (but heavy means quality, right?) These criticisms are for Shark to read really, don't let me put you off buying one. I would buy this same unit again in a heartbeat, it's a brilliant machine, sucks like a hole in a spacesuit and picks everything up, right to the edge of the carpet.

Absolutely fantastic Hoover!!
Superb suction on detect setting picks up all dirt on all types of surfaces easy to put together and use. Slightly lighter than my older shark model easy to empty. Cord length could be a little longer but you can’t have it all! Love the speedy hoovering although the power almost devours my carpet but they come up super clean ! So glad I splashed out on this model my last shark lasted over 10 years with two dogs and x3 kids

Good Vacuum but a Bit Bulky
The Shark PowerDetect Corded Upright Vacuum Cleaner has great suction and the PowerDetect/DuoClean features work really well. It picks up everything with no problem. However, the controls on the handle are a bit too easy to press — I keep knocking them and accidentally lowering the suction settings. It’s also quite bulky and bottom-heavy, which makes it not the nicest hoover to push around for longer cleans. Overall, good performance and strong suction, but the design could be a bit more user-friendly.

Amazing, highly recommended.
Have a Shark at my parents, and older model, and we all love it even though it is quite heavy. Bought a house that had a Numatic left behind. Wasn't doing the job for us. I bought this, and prior to using it, I hoovered the passage using the Numatic. Then used this Shark and honestly it was amazing. Picture alone shows how much more dirt it took it. Really good suction, good attachments. Wife's hairs were dealt with easily. Getting it on the prime sale helped even more regarding the value for money. Highly impressed with the hoover over. It does get caught on the current carpet in detect mode, as in the roller stops spinning and shows an error. This is due to changing modes and the roller at the slower speeds can't handle the thickness of the carpet, so before it even speeds up it gets stuck. But this is easily dealt with with the manual selection of modes after turning it off and on again.

It it does better than what it says on the tin
Exceptional vacuum cleaner. I don’t often write reviews but I had to for this as it is simply excellent. It’s the vacuum cleaner that you think you’re going to get when you purchase others. It’s like with power tools I used to think getting cheaper power tools would get me somewhere and I was always sadly disappointed and now only by Makita. I know it’ll last and I know they are solid. This vacuum cleaner definitely picks up the dirt and because it’s not cordless, the power is there which is exactly what you want when you’re in a hurry to clean up before guests arrive. I love the way you can empty it from the top and the bottom and also separated from the base so you can just carried around with the wand. Both my wife and I use this. And I love the fact that it uses power detect so you don’t need to take the wand and do along the skirting boards. It pulls power towards the side of kitchen cabinets, et cetera to lift up the dirt. It looks good and I wouldn’t hesitate before purchasing it. I hope this review helps others who are toying with changing their vacuum cleaner.

Huge improvement over our last Shark that we loved. Great value
Amazing quality and value. Bought to replace a similar model by Shark but this is far superior. Suction is the best we've ever had, in standard mode or as lift away, much stronger than the replaced shark in both modes. The bin is much bigger than the old one. Everything about it is more robust and stronger in function and design than the standard shark designs. Edge cleaning is better than the other Shark. Still fits under the same furniture and the lights are great. Bin removal feels more robust and it's definitely better on lift away mode. Being chunkier it is easier to stand up without the base. Luckily there 3 floor type selections because on the strongest roller and suction settings it grips our large rug and moves the entire thing and would be impossible to use. Didn't expect it to be this much better than the other Shark we used, prices weren't that different but this is clearly a flagship model and had a big price drop. It is so strong that it will instantly strip the casing of electrical cable then shred the exposed wires I'd expect, luckily only got to the outer stripping part! So be careful, it's incredible, the rollers seem super powered and are definitely not getting clogged with the hair as the other Shark used to. It's getting the dog hairs out of the rug and upstairs carpets much more effectively. We loved our old Shark and it was a no brainer to replace with the same brand but don't dnt realise this was a huge step up in every way. Insane value for money tbh. Doesn't mark our engineered oak flooring despite it's huge increase in lower It Is unusual looking, many Shark are but this looks more industrial, more purposeful, I guess the looks for the function. 100% recommended this model, no negatives at all.

Not too bad.
Great overall suction power and pick up, which is exactly what I need for pets. However, the auto detect doesn’t seem to work as well as I’d hope, hard floor to rugs is fine but it automatically stops the brush bar when I hit carpet and turns to red, to indicate a blockage. The dog tool is great, the rubber helps get the pet hairs up but with it being suction powered, on my sofa it just slows to a stop. Build quality seems ok and it is easy enough to put together.
