A clean and timeless design built for longevity. A leader needs to stand strong in both happy and hard times. Whether at work, on a date, or in stormy weather, step forward in confidence with the President lace-up boots. Comfort, Durability, Versatility & Honest Pricing. Thursday was built out of our own frustration. Clunky work boots or delicate fashion boots? Cheap shoes that fall apart after a few wears, or shoes that were incredibly overpriced? It didn't seem right that we had to make these trade-offs. There had to be another option. We started Thursday to offer an alternative: ridiculously high-quality footwear at honest prices that could handle our busy lives in New York City. Concept Through Construction We believe in clean and timeless designs with no external branding, letting the high-quality materials and craftsmanship shine. Each of our products is completely designed and developed in-house, drawing inspiration from the world around our amazing customers and us—the result: products that are equal parts beautiful, functional, and comfortable. Review: Great purchase, would comeback for the Vanguards in the future. - I love the style of the brown Thursday's Captains, water-proof good-year-welt construction and the affordable pricing. I have walk 300000 steps in the last 1.5 months in these brown captains across Europe. They fit right on the day I've purchased them with a slight hint of tightness on the right boot (I have a slightly larger right feet than my left). It took about 3 weeks to fully break them in to be fully comfortable to be mine, as I got infrequent blisters on my right toe. That's probably I am wearing these boots in the hot summers of Europe. I remedied the issue once I sprayed antiperspirant on my feet. These boots save me for being grippy in the rugged European roads, also from the extreme rains occationally. I was once trapped in a torrential rain accompanied by minor hail in Southern Germany, the grounds were all flooded up. Not too high, but would habe definitely soaked sneakers. My friends had their sneakers soaked and one of them caught a cold from that. Me on the other hand had dry feet and felt insulated from the hail/rain downpours. I later used some RedWing shoe cream to condition my Brown Captains and they look great again. There are a few scuffs on the right toe cap and the sides from normal wear, but I like my boots looking a little worn as it adds character to it. Thus, I would highly recommend the Thursday's Captains if you are looking for an affordable pricing, decent quality, stylish and very water resistant pair of boots. Review: Sharp Looking Boots - There was a burr on the top left hook/eyelet of the left boot that cut my thumb. It wasn't a major cut and did bleed, but it mostly perturbed the Ship High In Transit out of me. I emailed Thursday and they promptly replied in 24 hours offering a discount on my next purchase. The boots are so nice, that I will definitely take them up on that offer. I wore them 4 days straight last week, and I would consider them 80% broke in. Multiple compliments have come, including a vagabond in downtown Chicago that said "I like your boots, they are classy and rugged. They can go with anything" I was wearing them with nice tan dress slacks. Later that night I wore jeans to a concert and multiple compliments followed. I didn't expect fashion advise from a transient begging, but I'll take it. If you want to spend under $200, and get nice boots, buy Thursday Captains. I cannot comment on durability, but they look awesome. The leather is sweeter than Georgia tea as well.

Sharp Looking Boots
There was a burr on the top left hook/eyelet of the left boot that cut my thumb. It wasn't a major cut and did bleed, but it mostly perturbed the Ship High In Transit out of me. Great boot. Must size down!
What a boot. As everyone has said before, go at least a half size down from your normal shoe size. They are quite roomy. I wear a 9 normally, and got these in an 8.5. I still need to wear a pair of regular socks with some thin wool socks over these to get them to fit right (bought them to wear in the winter with a pair of wool socks). If you are looking to wear these in warm weather definitely go a full size down if you have thinner feet. Quality: The leather is excellent. After about 5 wears they were broken in and I could hardly notice them on my feet. The rubber sole is incredibly durable. I have worn these nearly every day for about 5 weeks and they still feel great. Once your foot molds to the cork insole they feel like walking on clouds. I have a pretty heavy heel-strike so the leather heel risers are starting to compress and push out a bit, but it adds to the boots character. Definitely get a tin of mink oil to treat these. It will waterproof them, darken the color a bit, and most importantly soften them up. With a good layer of mink oil salt water will wipe right off of them without any staining. Buy these boots. They are some of the best boots I have every worn. If they made steel toes I would buy a pair of them as well.

Be patient with break-in if you have wide feet - they will break in!
Followed the Thursday website sizing advice based on my sneakers sizes (EU41, E width). Mild panic as the first time I tried them on they felt too tight. I measured the length of the boot (7.5) versus my other shoes and the length seemed fine, although they were definitely narrower in the mid foot. If I was EE width I would have had to order from Thursday direct a EE width pair. I'd heard reviewers talk about 'almost no break-in', although I suspect they may have ignored the half-a-size down advice from Thursday, or perhaps had narrower feet. Other reviewers spoke about wearing them every day for 2 weeks to break in, in some cases acknowledging they prefer a snug fit with their boots. I took some time to break them in - had some hot spots and blisters on my heels, but they've finally broken in to a point where they are comfortable now - I feel that my foot can fully relax in them, and the mid foot did eventually break in nicely. I would have loved some indication of what to expect with break in for wide feet (a note in the box?), as this would have made me feel I was taking less of a gamble with seeing how it all went with break in after the initial try on. They look fantastic, and have a great new leather smell out of the box, that definitely sticks around for a while! Will definitely give Thursday a look-in for my next pair of boots - recommended.
