FORMAX®420 Bud Tobacco Pipe Deluxe Smoking Pipe

So, this is an obvious copy of a classic smoking pipe but is it any good at all or just a waste of money? Bought mine as I have recently stopped smoking tobacco so had a problem getting my fix in a morning. Tried dried herb vaporizers and although they do work (and some of them quite well!) they do require a bit of setup time and heat time, so not always good for the "wake and bake" that I sometimes require to get on with my day. As I have used similar pipes of this type (which also cost 4x as much) I thought I would have a punt on one of these cheaper copies, and see if I got similar results. Short answer is, yes, it works like the original.The pipe included 6 screens which was a nice touch, regardless of what you have heard about this type of pipe you will need these screens unless you want a mouth full of ash; but as the original had this same problem it is not an issue with the way this pipe is made, but just the way this was designed. The pipe itself is quite heavy, and the machining quality is OK - I have seen better - but I have also seen much worse. The screw filter part does fit nicely into the chamber and as long as it is cleaned every now and again it seems to work as well as the original.I fitted a few bowl type screens into the screw off filling cap too (these https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B085GJ5QSW/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 ), not only does this reduce the amount you have to stuff in for a tight-pack, but it can help with an even burn of the materials and help keep that chamber a lot cleaner. Again, I found I had to do this with the original so do not really see this as a negative, but you may find your herb does not burn quite right without one.I've seen a few reviews about how this stays lit, well it doesn't, it is not designed to. There is very little air getting to the herb chamber, so when you remove all heat and suction the herb starts to smoulder and goes out quite fast. I personally do not see this as a negative, as it means I can pack it tight, and get a couple (or more) hits off it while out and about without a refill.Sounds just like the original so far, so why only 4 stars? The one I received had a little bit of dark matter on the inside of the air pipe and on the grill of the filling cap. It is not mud or earth, but looks like it could be some kind of oil, so maybe residue that has not been cleaned off properly during manufacture. This was not a problem to me personally, it will clean right off with a quick soak in IPA (and I tend to give new pipes a quick bath anyway) but it could be the reason for some of the other negative reviews I have read.

Bought trying cut out tobacco bit of a pain having to clean oou the gunk every hit but a cheap little tool kit c photo comes in handyCan burn straight herb or a bong type mix it's a pipe really not battery ran, one has to light it dude! Happy toking Nobby Clarke

To be honest, not really my thing. Purchased it and I am glad I did. Came in handy one evening when my herbs were too moist/wet to put in a skin.The part were you put your herbs is a bit of a pain to empty at times. You will need a small wire to poke around in there when the herbs at the back havent burned properly. Same goes for when emptying it.It’s definitely useable though and does the trick! Even if it’s not your thing, it would be cost effective just to have this handy for when your herbs too moist or you have run out of skins.

This is a large pipe to hold and has a fair bit of weight to it! it does the job and burns whatever you want to put in it with a lovley cooling effect. However when i received the pipe it was full of what seemed to be dirt. This was disgusting and I had to wash it by hand.

Definitely cools the smoke. The threads to screw the top and bottom on are a little rough, but they work. It holds enough for a sitting for one person. Good for on-the-go.
