Xero Shoes Men's Kelso Barefoot Sneaker

Here are my early impressions of the sneaker after a few wears. I'll try to update this if something changes. In the past five years I've gotten into heritage service boots from makers like Grant Stone and Red Wing, and minimal leather sneakers from Thursday Boots. Before that I wore sneakers 99% of the time. My go to sneakers have been New Balance 574's. I was interested in barefoot shoes especially for the gym because I heard they were good for squatting and deadlifting. I was also curious about them in general. I was thinking about trying an Amazon brand like Whitin or Airhas, but saw that the Xero Kelsos were on sale. I found some reviews mentioning that the Kelsos were a bit more hard-wearing than the Amazon brands, so decided to try them. The Kelsos were comfortable out of the box with no break-in period. I usually wear 12 wide (mens) in New Balance 574, and went with the size 12 (mens) Kelsos. I don't have any major foot problems and walk around without shoes a good amount indoors, so it was very easy for me to get used to the Kelsos. There are removable cushiony insoles that can be useful to transition to barefoot sneakers, but I kinda prefer the groundfeel I get with them removed. I am wearing them with socks. There is a pretty good amount of room inside to wiggle and splay out my toes. They feel lighter than the 574's, yet the uppers have a bit of structure and don't feel flimsy which is good for a workout shoe. I got the black ones with the gum sole. I think they look good as a minimal low profile sneaker. Not clownish even with the wide toe box. I tried one squat session with the shoes and they felt really nice. There was a connection between my feet and the floor that I haven't quite felt before. I felt like there was an overall improvement in my mechanics. I enjoy the feeling of walking around in them and can definitely feel the terrain under my feet. There is a bit of tread on the sole and so far I feel like I'm not slipping in them. I haven't tried any long walks or trails with them yet. Overall, I'm happy with my purchase of the Kelsos, especially if they will last a few years. I definitely get the appeal of barefoot sneakers now. I will have to reconcile this with my enjoyment of legacy boots, which are like opposite. Xero makes some other nice barefoot sneakers, like the Prio, which also look promising for gym use and casual wear.

Great shoes. They look great and are super comfortable. They have a spacious toe box that lets my toes spread comfortably.

They are ok ... theres a "cheap" feel to them compared to vivobarefoots leather shoes. They appear to be well made, wide toebox and flexible sole, probably durable ..

Vey comfortable. The heel is a bit tight, but other than that, pretty good.

My “go-to” shoes for work and the gym. I started wearing barefoot shoes about a year ago, but bought a few pairs of cheaper brands to see if I liked them. I always wanted to try the Xeros, so when I found these at a reasonable price, I jumped on it. The Xeros are a difference maker and a definite upgrade to the others I tried. The material has held up to everyday wear and is lightweight and comfortable. They’re like wearing slippers took. At the gym, they provide a sturdy flat base for my lifts. The color and pattern are nice and go with several outfits. They’re sporty and attractive. Definitely recommend these if you’re thinking about barefoot shoes.

I have owned Vivobarefoot shoes and I like the styling, but the shoe always feels too stiff for daily use. The Xero Kelso had the styling that I wanted with a softer flexibility to the sole. I wear them for everything from going to to the store, to exercising and even going to dance classes. My only con are the flat cotton laces, which were too chunky for the shoes and collected dirt at a faster rate than the rest of the shoe so I replaced them with a thin, round, no-tie elastic lace in a more aesthetic gray/white color to match the shoe better.

I love these shoes. I use them mostly to play tennis and walk to and from work. My first pair of Xero shoes I use for hiking, so I looked for some that could be used for sports and found these on clearance. I had been a big ASICS fan, but was surprised at how agile I am with these - and my feet do not hurt. No slipping or rolling ankles. They are great. However if anyone from Xero reads this, please let me know what will work best for tennis (and pickleball). Highly recommend!

After waiting literally 3 weeks for them to ship and arrive i was extremely disappointed. These shoes aren't any wider than other shoes, in fact the box doesn't say anything about them being a "wide" shoe even though they are advertised a such. I assume they're the typical "M" width. As for comfort I'm NOT impressed at all. This is not the shoe you want, and it's definitely not worth the 3 week wait to get them. As for walking ability they tend to ride on my ankle bone and rub it raw. They seem good quality, just not what they're advertised to be. Id compare them to a puma shoe if i had to say they are similar to anything.... If 0 stars was an option they would get 0 stars.

They're wide, they're comfortable and they're stylish in a 70s tennis shoe kind of way.

Me encantaron, son mis primeros tenis barefoot y la vdd se me hacen super cómodos. Solo recomiendo pedir una media talla mas grande dado que cuando pedi mi talla habitual estaba un poco justo.

Die Schuhe sehen gut aus, an das klassische Design eines bekannten Sportartikel Herstellers angelehnt ;) Allerdings ist die Sohle steif und die Schuhe insgesamt unbequem, auch wenn es ein bisschen mehr Zehenfreiheit gibt als bei Standard Schuhen. Für mich unbefriedigend in Anbetracht des Preises, da habe ich mehr erwartet.
