This review is for my fellow DENTISTS out there, since they also market this kit for dental people. My expectations were to practice hundreds of sutures to get faster and better at it so durability is very important to me. So in light of that:- Instruments are of average quality (so you'll be a pro with good quality instruments I guess)- Good amount of nylon and silk sutures to practice with- E-book has a decent introduction to suturing (written description of knot tying and interrupted sutures) but nothing to write home about- Durability is a bit of an issue, the pad can rip if you don't get a big enough bite (working with gingiva, the tissues are thinner), if you pull too hard or too fast it can rip as well so you'll just have to be gentle.- As a GP you don't often use silk or nylon, although you can practice with them, having some resorbable chromic would be nice (the braided silk needle is huge..I don't think I'll be using much of that in people's mouths)in conclusion, for a broke DENTAL student, the pad is not bad. At $41, It's not as realistic or as durable as I thought it would be. But If you want to practice some new techniques here and there, or if you just want to learn suturing as a beginner its good enough.

This is an amazing idea. Can't believe we don't use these in schools for children. I bought this as a gift for my little sister because she is interested in the medical field. This teaches a very important skill to know and let's you practice multiple times. I see others complaining about it falling apart, but this is an educational tool, not something you should have to do 200 times to get right. I practiced with my sister maybe 10 times and we are both proficient at it now. I recommend anyone who wants their loved ones to be capable of possibly saving your life in an emergency situation get this for their kids or anyone who is even slightly interested. Don't be so critical medical students. You get paid the big bucks don't you?! As for the product itself. It's still in great condition, comes with all the tools you need, INSTRUCTIONS, and a very nice case to hold it in. Thank you for helping us learn this amazing skill!

I'm currently a PA student and just learned how to do simple interrupted sutures. This kit works great to practice those sutures. I read several reviews about sutures ripping through, so I haven't been tying them as tight and haven't had a problem with any ripping so far. The tools are decent enough quality that they mimic the tools we used in my lab fairly well. The kit works well to get faster at suturing and develop the muscle memory. I like that the kit came with plenty of practice sutures with two types of thread, and the thread is longer than traditional sutures so you can practice more stitches.
