An elementary device that can do its job well with a bit more tweeking
An interesting idea for catching spiders humanely that needs a bit more thought. Firstly, once you catch a spider with the vacuum nozzle, you can't turn off the vacuum until you find somewhere to put the spider as it will just walk right out again - no cap! This is not a sophisticated device and £14.99 is a steep price for to then be expected to buy a 9V battery to power it! This "Howsehold" (sic) spider catcher needs some work!

It does the job, but ...
As a way of humanly catching insects such as spiders it does do its job, and it is a boon for someone with a fear of spiders. However, it could have been instantly improve just by the addition of a plastic cap that would fit over the nossle after successfully sucking up a critter. This would eliminate the need for a quick dash to the door way to expel the creature, before it manages to escape out of the gaping hole at the end. It seems an odd omission as a cap would have cost just pennies, but would have improve this little gadget no end.The device itself is plastic, which is to be expected and is all that is required. The buttons and suction work just fine. It isn't a big suction like a vacuum cleaner, but it is sufficient to do its job.The device takes a 9v AA battery, which isn't included. It would have been nice if it had been rechargeable as batteries are rapidly becoming a thing of the past, and whereas years ago I'd have had a cupboard full of AA batteries, these days I can't always put my finger on one.

does an ok job but poor power option and high price mean its not great
This spider catcher I thought would be very handy to suck the spiders up and then I could put them back outside. However, it has some issues. Firstly, its power; you have a very cheap plastic cap that covers the handle area where you need to put in a 9v square battery (one is not supplied) that just feels very old, it should surely be USB-C rechargeable by now. Next is the lack of cap so once you catch a spider and it is in the tube it can just crawl back out, so you have to leave it switched on while you then go straight outside and release it, this drains the battery and is inconvenient sometimes. Now the good points, it is small and lightweight, that's down to it all being made of thin plastic and the suction is pretty good, even on carpet it can suck the spider up the tube and hold on to it for long enough to run outside. It’s a good distance from the handle to the end of the tube so if you are scared of spiders you don't have to get too close.Overall, it does a job, but power option is poor and priced at £14.99 its quite a bit more expensive than others on the market.

Great wee gadget
Really good wee gadget, Nozzle is wide enough to take care of even the biggest house spiders, Suction is really good too.

It’s okay
This is a small spider and insect catcher that requires a 9v battery to work (not supplied). It is an effective means of catching insects, but there is no cap to place over the end of the tube once you have captured your insect, which means you will need to take it outside immediately for release or risk it crawling or flying out of the large open end, which renders it mostly unusable to me, certainly where spiders are concerned. There are versions of these available with a cap to cover the end; those are far more practical as your insect is held safely inside the tube until it can be released, avoiding the need to trudge outside in the early hours, possibly in inclement conditions. I would use it in emergencies, but prefer the sealed tube of my usual catcher.

Better than a dust-buster at this task
I was half expecting a cheap gimmick. It is a budget price and the tube ETC are only average quality.Apart from those materials this is brilliant.I use a lot of tools, I make my own sometimes. This is one of the best handles I have ever held, I would give the designer a job!In our house we use a dust buster for this task this is better in four ways;1. It does not kill them, simply take them outside, pull the tube off and shake, or if you that way made put them down the loo. I am sure you will feel like a better person going outside.2. It is super powerful, no running away.3. A light that is nearly good. Spot the spider in the dark, turn off the main light, sneak up, LED ON and suck.4.Small so easy to store nearbyThis is a good buy, not a gimmick it works.I hope you find my review helpfulMy reviews follow this star rating:1 Star; Very unsatisfactory product. I do not recommend buying it,2 Stars; Significant deficiencies, does not fulfil its expected functions,3 Stars; Average product. Complies with expectations,4 Stars; Very good and satisfying. I liked it and it's a quality product,5 Stars; Excellent, exceeds expectations.
