Review: ...you start with the film "Stigmata" and then if you're still curious you reach for this translation. I wouldn't recommend to people that just want to find out about some secrets of the world. IT IS NOT another Da Vinci code... Gospel of Thomas is probably one of the most "attacked" sources. Why? Just beacuse it wasn't discovered by one of "celebrities" in science and Christian studies therefore "celebrities" will call it: "nonsense", "rubbish", "heresy", "side product", "gnostic". It basically tells original teachings of Christ which happened to exist in oral form for at about hundred years and then it was written down and printed. not for beginners Review: This book shares it straight up. I like that there is little editorial interpretation of this gospel. take from it what you will. I cringe everytime I think that books like this were left out of the bible subsequent to the gathering at the Council of Nicaea. More Christians should realize that the great book (as we know it) was filtered by the politicians and war-mongers whose purpose was to centralize and control belief systems. What might we be missing? God is so grand, do you really think he'd let any one of us figure it out besides Christ? I think not and its a shame that books like the Gospel of Thomas werent included in the Bible to give us a better picture and insight into the thinking and direction of God and Christ.

great simple book. Bad trimming on pages ... it seems rush done.

Someday I hope to find essentially (The words of Christ) in a published form, and that is what I hoped for slightly in this volume but instead (as with most any "holy book") Dr. A. Nyland fills the pages with his own commentary. It is nice to have the Gospel of Thomas along with references from the traditional New Testament, however these could be in the back as an appendix so the reader could more easily enjoy the Gospel of Thomas in its entirety. If you are hoping to sit down with Thomas and read his account of the teachings of Christ and that alone then look elsewhere. If you are looking for the same commentary filled reference guide as so many others, this is the book for you.

I read the "Gospel of Thomas" with my own Bible (King James version) beside me and could not put this wonderful book down. There is so much revealed with this translation. I then went on to read the Book of Daniel, the Gospels of James and Juda. If you want to find an intriging read, I suggest the "Gospel Of Thomas" Just right for this season of Christmas.
