Perfect for tracing coaxial and ethernet cables, source to end
Perfect for tracing coaxial and ethernet cables snaking through house. I wanted to convert coaxial cables to internet usage from my ethernet-cabled router. The central cable/ethernet box in our house was a snake pit of wires; I had no idea which wire went where. This device allowed me in about 15 minutes to sort out the start and end points of the cables in the various rooms of my house. Best 20 bucks I have spent in a while.

nice for the price, confusing to use
I got this to troubleshoot my coax cables at my house. Seems to work, but the instructions are only really for the Cat 5 cable part of the tester. It indicates a connection but in a confusing way not talked about in the instructions...

Troubleshooting network issues without a tool like this is an experiment in pain and frustration. This little guy runs on a 9v (buy one when you get this, one isn't included) and it just simply works. There are 3 settings to master: on/off, slow cycle and fast cycle. That's it. It will blink to show you which conductor is good and fail to light if a connection is broken. Good product for the price and it does what it says it does.
