Is this a 16in or 18 in seat width?

It is the 18 inch model. It is an oversight that Amazon have not put this vital information in.

how easy is it to maneuver this self propelling chair on a carpeted floor?

Hi Joanna, This wheelchair moves well on carpets. The tyres do not need to be inflated, so you wouldn`t have the problem of soft tyres digging into the carpet. My Dad used this chair for several years indoors. Hope this helps? Malcolm.

Does anyone know whether this chair comes with a safety strap or is it just a matter of buying this seperately?

Does this come fully assemble and do you have to dismantle it to go in the car or can you just fold it ? Many thanks.

From memory it comes fully assembled. To put it in car, there are two levers one on each of the handles. You press them down and the handles fold back in into the wheelchair. You then pull up the seat to bring the chair together, enabling it to be lifted into the car. You will be surprised how light it is. There is a handy storage pouch on the backrest to pop phone, tissues purse in. A bit expensive but it's been a lifesaver for my mum who can't walk and for me transporting her.
