Awesome features and excellent build
The media could not be loaded. I recently purchased the Smart Battery Charger, primarily hoping it could handle a particularly challenging situation with my Jeep, and I have to say, I'm thoroughly impressed. This unit has exceeded my expectations and stands head and shoulders above any battery charger or maintainer I've owned in the past.My Jeep is equipped with the eTorque system, which utilizes a secondary battery. This isn't just any battery setup; it's located in a spot notorious for being difficult to access, making potential replacement a significant and unwelcome chore. To compound the issue, this is the vehicle's original secondary battery, meaning it has endured over 100,000 miles of service. Given its age and the hassle involved in swapping it out, I was actively looking for a high-quality, reliable charger/maintainer to keep it in optimal condition and hopefully extend its life.Right out of the box, the Luckgulu charger made a positive impression. The build quality feels solid. But the first truly "wow" moment came when I connected the clamps to the battery terminals. Before even plugging the charger into the wall outlet, the backlit LCD screen immediately lit up and displayed the battery's current voltage. This is a fantastic feature! It provides an instant diagnostic check on the battery's state without needing AC power, something I've never seen on my previous, simpler chargers. It's incredibly convenient.Putting it to the real test, I hooked it up to that aging eTorque battery. Setting the correct mode was straightforward despite the variety of options available on the clear display. The charger went to work without a hitch, initiating the charging sequence smoothly. Watching it confidently bring this crucial, hard-to-reach battery back up was a huge relief. While I haven't explored every single feature yet – and there are many, including various amperage settings (up to 20A), specific modes for different battery types (AGM, GEL, Lead-Acid), a winter mode, repair functions, and desulfation capabilities – just knowing they are there provides significant peace of mind. This level of versatility means it's equipped to handle pretty much any 12V or 24V battery need I might encounter in the future, from cars and trucks to boats or motorcycles. It’s far more than just a simple maintainer; it's a comprehensive battery care tool.I was so pleased with how effectively it handled this specific, problematic battery that I actually recorded a video of it during the charging process. It performed flawlessly. In conclusion, my initial thought that this charger is "pretty sweet" was an understatement. It's a robust, intelligent, and feature-packed device that delivered exactly what I needed for a challenging application. If you're looking for a versatile, powerful, and smart battery charger that offers significantly more capability than basic models – especially if you deal with different types of vehicles, older batteries, or want advanced maintenance and repair functions – I wholeheartedly recommend the Luckgulu 12V/24V Smart Battery Charger. It's proven to be a valuable addition to my garage tools.

Nice options for charging speed.
I used this to charge a battery in a tractor that sat all winter. It recognized the battery and started charging as soon as I powered it on. It has a few options that are easy to select. The charger does most of the work for you. The voltage reading on the unit is accurate and the operation is quiet. I like the auto shutoff as well as the maintain function. the unit charged 16 amps on the lower setting. This is an ample charging rate. The unit has some heft but is compact in size. Good addition to the home shop.

A good charger, but not perfect.
I have an older Schumacher "6000A" charger that is starting to have issues, and I bought this charger as a replacement. I would have bought another Schumacher, but they don't make this model (2A /10A /30A /60 Amp Start) anymore, and it appears they don't have anything similar. Not sure why? This reviewed charger's display is much nicer, with the current output shown, along with voltage and percent charge. (The Schumacher only shows Voltage or % Charge.)I've used this to charge my truck battery after the truck had sat unused for a couple months, and also to charge an old mower battery that was completely flat after two years. The LCD display comes on as soon as you connect the charging cables to the battery, (as long as the battery has more than about 5 volts charge), and shows the % charge (based on voltage) and the battery voltage. It doesn't need to be plugged in. The percent charge is displayed as a number, plus as a circle of segments, kind of like a digital speedometer or tachometer. When the charge is below about 10%, the circle of segments disappears and you only see the number displayed. After you plug in the two-conductor power cord, you can use the three position rocker switch to turn on the charger . . . down is "low," center is off, and up is "high." I saw some complaints about the "wimpy" power cord (0.75mm² wires), which is about the same as #18 AWG. This is good for 600 watts input which is more than double the rated output power. I don't know the gauge of the battery clamp wires, but they didn't get warm during the charge process. The clamps have firm springs and are decent. The output is significantly higher that the advertised ratings:In the low (10 amp) range, I was seeing up to 30 amps output initially, with the charge stabilizing around 15+ amps as the battery became close to fully charged. In the high (20 A) range, the current went as high as 40 amps and ran typically at 24 amps once the charge was above 80%. (Note: although I checked the accuracy of the voltage display with my Fluke multimeter, I never verified the accuracy of the current meter.) With the battery disconnected, and the power turned on, the display shows 12.7 volts for low range, and 14.3 volts for high range. (I never tried using this for the 24 volt output, but the manual says the charger needs to see at least 18 volts to switch to the 24 volt range.) I think you could use this as a 12 volt power supply . . . maybe with limitations.12.7 volts on your battery is enough to show 100% charge when you first connect the charger, but if you turn the charger on, the % charge display drops 15-20 points as the current turns on and it will charge for quite some time to show fully charged (and turn off if you have AUTO-OFF selected.) The manual say the battery is fully charged when the display says 95% and will take about an hour to get to 100% from there.BTW, there are three push buttons for different settings:The SMART / REPAIR button is the most puzzling, and the instruction descriptions are a bit vague. SMART is a "Seven step process," but watching the charger, I could see no significant changes over time. Maybe you need a good meter or oscilloscope connected to see more of what is going on, but the voltage and current display don't do much more than change slowly over time. The REPAIR mode says it will fix "sulfated, stratified," etc. batteries, with "something" added to the regular charging program. (?)The AUTO-OFF / MAINTENANCE is supposed to do what is indicated. In the AUTO-OFF position, the charger does turn off and remains off once it hits 100%. (To get it to turn on again, cycling power with the switch is not enough. You need to disconnect the battery, and unplug the charger first.) In the MAINTENANCE position, the charger is supposed to "use a pulse current to maintain the battery" once the "LCD displays 100%." In my experience, the current stayed at 15 amps after my mower battery hit 100% and I found the battery electrolyte bubbling/boiling! I don't know if my charger is defective, but I will never use this setting. The ALL WEATHER / WINTER setting appears to use a slightly higher voltage when in WINTER mode, when the battery is supposed to be very cold and harder to charge. You can use this simply to get a bit higher charging rate! When I tried charging my flat battery using the low setting, the charge voltage came on above 17 volts, but the current was regulated at 5.0 amps. It stayed this way for quite a while (hours) before the voltage dropped to around 15 volts and the current then came up to about 13.5 amps. The first charger I received was DOA. It displayed correctly when connected to a battery, but would never turn on. (You can tell your charger is on, by the current output display, and by the fact the fan always runs when it's on.) There was a large dent or crease in the metal on the bottom of the charger in one corner, and I thought maybe it got dropped at some point, but the new one I received had the same crease in the bottom. (While I was charging my truck with the second charger, our power went off, and I thought the second charger had died, since it acted just like the first one . . . Yes, I did check my power was good with the first charger.)If you want a battery maintainer, then look somewhere else, or buy one of the small, sub $10 units to clip on once this unit finishes charging the battery.I added a current meter to my Schumacher charger, and I like how the current regulates down from 30A to 10A to 2A automatically as the battery approaches full charge. Then when fully charged, it automatically goes into a maintenance mode where it puts out a small pulse of current every 10 seconds or so, so you need not worry about over charging. My new charger doesn't do this, even though it is supposed to in Maintenance Mode, but this isn't a deal breaker for me, so I'm not going to send it back for another one.

WORKS!
My battery was completely dead from sitting over the Winter and this charged it back to starting again. Was a quicker charge than expected.
