Holy Grail of Fence Painting!
Finally an answer to the mind numbingly boring job of fence painting. Used for the first time today and a job that normally took 3 days to complete was done and dusted in just 2 hours, including everything cleared away and cleaned. Was a little unsure when ordering because I have had previous experience of a Cuprinol sprayer, which turned out to be hopeless, the thing getting constantly blocked, finally rendering it unusable and then a lot of expensive paint, plus thrown away, along with the sprayer. I love Cuprinol paint but not their sprayers. In fact I have used Cuprinol 'Less Mess' Fence Paint for many years, and painting by hand, many many fence panels, taking days and days.Despite trawling the net I could not find any answer as to whether the Wagner Spray system would be good for fence painting or not, and whether Cuprinol 'Less Mess' could be used. And even it was, was there a way around NOT buying the overpriced 'Sprayable' paint.Guess the only answer was to buy the Wagner sprayer and then try the Cuprinol 'Less Mess' paint (considerably cheaper than 'sprayable', but just as good), which I did today. So yes absolutely no problem, goes on an absolute treat, and so quick, but I needed to dilute the paint with water to a ratio of around 50% paint and 50% water, or maybe 60% paint/40% water. I used the paint can, removed half of the paint and then added the water, which then gives the ready made mixture when ready to refill. Was reasonably in precise, but did the trick perfectly.Cleaning also is easy, just a few potential parts that could get blocked are easily and quickly cleaned after use.I am almost looking forward to when I could use it again! So thank you Wagner, for me this truely is the Holy Grail of Fence Painting!

wagner electric sprayer
Bought it for painting an old tractor and am very pleased with the product. Far exceeded my expectations and worth the money. Have used it for oxide primer and enamel topcoats with great success after thinning paint by about 10-15%. works best with the spray set almost as fine as possible, at a distance of 6-8 inches from the work with relatively brisk movement of the sprayer. the most time consuming part of the operation is cleaning it with thinner after use for this reason i recommend leaving it until you have plenty things/large areas to paint. 7 out of 10 for build quality - the trigger and spray adjustment knob are a bit plasticy for my liking but both work fine. everything else is strong enough. sits happily on the floor even when empty though it looks a bit back end heavy in the pictures. The power cable could do with being longer, at only apr 1.5 m an extension always has to be used. Looks a bit cumbersome in the pictures but has proved to be quite handy, feels and sounds like a big Hair drier. any questions just leave a comment.

Very effective, - simple to use, - easy to clean ... but tank too small for large-area spray work
Very effective tool for spray painting with 'thinned' paints. I have now used it several times for repainting garden fence panels. It has a good level of spray control both directionally and for rate of delivery. The nozzle can be rotated so as to deliver horizontal and vertical 'brush' orientation making access into difficult areas quite simple. The spot delivery position is useful for detail work requiring good targeting. The gun is quite easy to dismantle for cleaning and the water-based fence paint I have used so far is easily cleaned off without leaving residues. The plastic materials seem durable whilst also being light and easy to clean, rejecting paint adherence. My only complaint is that for the type of work so far undertaken is that the paint tank is too small at 800 ml, requiring frequent (messy) refills. I understand that Wagner do offer a 1.4L version but this requires purchase of a second spray head, not the most cost effective solution to a simple problem - let's just have the option to buy the larger plastic tank to fit the gun supplied!

An excellent way to paint large areas of fence.
I bought this to spray several hundred feet of feather board fencing around my garden perimeter. After starting by hand I quickly looked for a more efficient alternative. I'd already bought Cuprinol "Less Mess" only to discover it was described as not suitable for spraying - they recommend a much dearer alternative.Nevertheless I decided to try it mixed with a little water to thin it.The spray handled it effortlessly and made the whole job much quicker and much easier. The only proviso is that having sprayed an area you then go over it with a suitable hand brush. This is due to the nature of the rough wood - the saturation levels differ constantly and waterfalls do occur.A quick going over with the brush ensures you spread it evenly and get into crevices. If you think brushing defeats the purpose of spraying, believe me, it doesn't.The spray ensures large areas are quickly coated and the brush ensures an even finish over the knotty and dark areas.I found that each 800ml application covered six vertical slats. To clean just run the non motor parts under running warm water and rub with a nylon kitchen scourer. Clean out the inside of the 800ml bottle, fill with hot water from the tap, reconnect and spray the hot water through.Simple.I'm pleased I bought the product and next intend to use it to apply waterproofed to a newly built front garden wall

Ace!
Great really pleased. Purchased last year to paint my fence panels using standard DIY store fence stain/paint and have only gotten around to using it. I diluted by about 5% and didn't filter the paint. The machine did clog up a coupe of times, but was easy to rinse the parts and clear. I don't know if filtering the mix would have made a difference, Ill try that next time. Important thing is Wagner saved me HOURS and the paint finish is as good if not better than by brush!!!Only downside is the small size of the bottle (i believe you can buy a bigger bottle) and worst of all why or why did they only put a very short mains lead on it! These two things may have been ok if your painting something small and easily to reach, but surely most use will be for covering a considerable area...Otherwise it would have easily been 5 star.
