Magic Plastics Split Nut, 2-1/2", Pump Union

This was a great product to fix a cracked Union.

The existing spa pump union nut was cracked preventing a tight fit that allowed water to spill out of the union. There was not enough room or excess pipe to allow for a replacement of the union. I used my dremel to cut a slot in the broken nut and then pried it apart with a screwdriver. I added the Magic Plastics Split Nut to the union pipe which closed the union perfectly - no leaks.

I winterized my hot tub like I do every winter. But this particular year (2013), the temp lowered into the 20's for quite a few day. Just enough for one of the factory couplings to crack at the water pump. I used a dremel tool to carefully cut off the cracked nut without damaging the pipe. The split union went on easy and there are no leaks. Great item!!

Easy to replace, remember not to over tighten the two screws or it will be hard to screw on tight.
