many reviews that the paint job on the black/white one is very poor - anyone recently get the black - how is it?

I ordered the white with black colored owl. The paint job is great. No problems.

Can these be left outside on a deck or patio?

I would not suggest it because of its height/weight and do not believe it is not made of a weather resistant material.
