Japanese Alto Wind Chime

After hearing this 13 years ago at my daughter's house I purchased one for myself and it has been hanging ever since. The quality is excellent. I leave it outside all summer then hang it in my screened porch for the winter. I have terrific neighbors who have done so much for me that I purchased this one as a thank you gift for them.

I originally bought this exact wind chime 12 years ago. I still have it and it's held up to the harsh souther climates of Phoenix AZ and Austin TX. the reason I'm writing this review is because this is the second one I purchased. Not for myself, but for my Mom. She's been bugging me for years about how she would LOVE to have one. Finally broke down and got it for her this last Christmas. She loves it. I love the days when the wind picks up, because the sound this Japanese Alto makes is amazing.

I bought this last week and once I found the right positioning in the yard that receives ample amounts of breeze I couldn't be happier. In fact I am awaiting the moment in time in which I purchase the next wind chime. I'll probably go with a soprano Gypsy as my next purchase. One thing that I really love about the Japanese (and Gypsy) is that their tuning is both serene and peaceful but at the same time also mysterious. For me it really does add to the atmosphere and ambiance of my home. One thing is that the alto is quite large. From the top knot to the bottom of the wind catcher it is a full 50 inches. It does take a decent breeze to get going but once it does it really is beautiful. I had it in two other locations prior to it's current location but once I found the right one everything clicked. These wind chimes are expensive but make no mistake about it you do get the quality that you are paying for. Once I get a breeze blowing past me I'll post a video.
