mild taste
Bit of an earthy taste. Not very sweet. I experimented with brew times and amounts. I found that I liked it on the lighter side than the darker side. Would recommend trying it with less and for shorter times and then increase time before adding in more tea. Wish they had a sampler, this is a lot of tea and will last a long time.

I'm a fan
Ivan green tea was new to me, and I spent some time learning about what it's used for while enjoying it. It's made from a flower / weed known in the USA as fireweed, which is high in antioxidants ( vitamin C, manganese, vitamin B6, magnesium) and is believed to be anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial. The flowers are separated from the stems, then the flowers are bruised and fermented over a few days to bring out the flavor. No matter how long I brewed this (and it's recommended to brew it for five minutes -- more than most other teas) I never got a pungent, bitter or overbrewed result. It's always lightly floral, earthy (maybe a bit grassy too) and mild. I have a friend from Siberia who said her family used to make this kind of tea all the time, sometimes mixed with dried berries.

Tasty healthy tea
This tea tastes really good and has fantastic antioxidant properties. Comes in a resealable large bag, and is caffeine free. Really good option for someone wanting a black tea substitute that is caffeine free. Would be great hot or cold, although we have it hot after steeping 5+ minutes per the instructions. It is earthy and not bitter, and adds noticeably flavor that is almost like a black tea and not unfamiliar. I enjoy it a lot and would consider this a great tea time option when you want to avoid caffeine in the afternoon.

Mild and Sippable
I’d never heard of Ivan tea / Ivan chai before, but I’m always one to try a new tea, so I ordered this. The massive 10+ ounce bag contains enough tea for around 150 cups of tea - so although the cost is about $40, it will last a long time. I used about 2 teaspoons for my small pot of tea, and let it steep for several minutes. The result was a mild, not exactly sweet, slightly earthy brew. It’s certain different I’ve had before and I enjoyed sipping on this while I was at work. I love that it’s caffeine free, and if Google is to be believed, it provides a variety of health benefits, including detoxification. I recommend this for somebody who is a green tea drinker who wants to try something different. I’m glad that I did.
