Better than Viz, Big edition!
(Review for The Definite Edition of Vagabond since Amazon sadly combines both Big and Definite editions) I once had every volume of viz, big editions! The bindings and backing was poorly made and so was the paper quality. This is a big correction and huge improvement! Now the binding on every page sits flat, like a well made book! Making it enjoyable to read and with better card stock, paper now! I guess I sold my Big editions for a reason, something better years later! The Quality now is on par to Vinland, berserk Hard bound and the collective versions!Shame they are months behind per volume and print, I wanted to get both, volume 1 and 2.. Highly recommend. Worth it’s Top Dollar as the print is stellar, crisp and clear even the larger splash pages or Water colored art! Beautiful and quite lovely! Captures Inoue’s style best! While Inoue himself just may be, from Feudal Japan himself.. ha!

Pretty Good.. Just Heads Up....
The book arrived nicely packaged and in pristine condition. Its very thick and heavy. There's even a cloth bookmark like the kind you would find in a Bible (pretty fancy). The drawings are AMAZING! I also love the fact that the story isn't all squeezed onto one page. So far the story line is very interesting and engages you right from the very start. Two things I wanted to point out: First the illustration on the front is a semi-sleeve. Meaning it can come off and the design on the book itself appears to be cherry blossoms? Not for sure. So if you were like me thinking that face is on the actual cover it's not (see vid). By the way the cover feels like fabric. Pretty nice.Second Point- If you got this for a teenager, just know there are some full buck naked s3xual illustrations in there. I pixeled over it to show you. So...be careful. One other thing I forgot to add is throughout the book, though most is in black and white, there are full color illustrations that are breathtaking. This is a book you keep for life and not let anyone borrow. It's too precious.

WHAT I NEEDED
This is exactly what I’ve been wanting for so long—sturdy, hardcover volumes of Vagabond. The build quality is amazing, and my favorite part? The color pages are actually in full color, which makes them even more stunning. Each page feels premium, with a nice weight and texture that adds to the experience.Highly recommend it if you’re a fan or collector.

I tried to cover all the bases in brief
I feel like this isn’t a place to review Vagabond the manga, so much as a place to review the specific product. I received my package very quickly. The contents were imperfect condition. The book itself is a good size for viewing the art. That has a strong binding. I noticed no problems with gluing or print related issues. If, for some reason, you want to know about the content of the book, there are a lot of fantastic resources for manga reviews. But for all you moms or uncles or siblings buying gifts…Content is PG13This is the first installment in a seriesThe story unfolds as a pretty classic warring states era samurai story, following the lives of two friends from a rural village as they set off for glory in pursuit of their respective destinies. It is very well told, and the English translation featured here is absolutely fantastic. The art, might be the primary driving factor for most manga fans, this is hands down some of the most beautiful ink work you’re gonna find. The brushstroke heavy stylization is reminiscent of the calligraphy of antiquity, and any art nerd will be thrilled to place this on their shelf.Hope that helps

A must have for stans of Vagabond
Although it's a heafty price to own it, for me, it's totally worth parting with my coins. This edition stands up so beautifully next the deluxe volumes of it's cousins in the big three, Berserk & Vinland Saga. The fabric book binding is gorgeous. Inoue's breathtaking art is captured beautifully in it's large pages that have a print quality comparable to the equally impressive deluxe editions of Vagabond's counterparts. Like my fellow stans, I hope Takehiko Inoue re-encounters the inspiration to complete his take on this gripping tale of Miyamoto Musashi. I look forward to collecting the forthcoming installments.
