SW16-500 16 Gauge 500FT Spool Speaker Wire

this wire is pretty good stuff. I have had it for quite some time and used it on a few projects. I use to be a car stereo and alarm installer and some wire is really hard to work with. Not the case with this. This stuff is very easy to strip and has a plyable shield.

I'm beginning to become concerned with this wire. I've installed quite a few home theaters with this wiring and in the beginning I was generally pleased, but recently, the thickness of the wire seems to be dwindling. With about 8 separate purchases over the course of 2 years, it seems that something is changing. I'm learning that it's not solid copper strands, that there definitely isn't 68 strands, and that the total impedance is higher than real 16 gauge.

Replace my old speaker wires.

First off, I bought this from Amazon warehouse deals (returned item) for a much discounted price (<$18) so I wasn't expecting this to be as described.The wire gauge is no where near 16awg. I haven't taken any measurements but I suspect it to be between 18 and 20awg. It doesn't end there, the wire is not pure copper as one would expect, its CCA (copper clad aluminum) which has a much higher resistance effectively increasing the gauge by 2. It really bugs me when they don't list this in the description as its severely misrepresented.NET: you are getting 20-22awg equivalent copper wire.

A little bit thinner than expected, but does the trick with crystal clear clarity. Would buy again.

Not sure if its actually 16 gauge. Seems more like 18. Great price. Did the job.

Uses a LOT of clear coating which gives the illusion of thicker wire. I would gauge this at 18GA at MOST.

This product works great and for the price couldn't beat it. Used it throughout my house easily. The sound from my speakers is great! Would recommend.
