It keeps the water off I guess
I had to replace my 4+-year-old parasol cover, comparing the material this one is defiantly thinner and I expect it to last maybe 12 months or slightly more depending on the weather we have.

Great product but buy separate ties.
Good quality for the price and provides a decent amount of shade. The ties provided were far too short and not strong enough. I can't comment on on how waterproof it is as it hasn't rained yet.
