Fun way to learn! I like having images and sentences along with the actual sounds and words.
The cards come in a nice box with an “Instructions” card and a “Stages of Learning” card (the latter lists all the sets and – I assume - the suggested order one should approach them, groups A-E in each set, cards alphabetized within each letter grouping.) Three of the four sets of cards in my box were plastic wrapped, the other was loose but fine. Flexible rings are provided that go through the holes in the cards and attach and detach easily. The cards are laminated (nice!), everything is clearly labeled, and the sets (1-4) and rings are also color-coded. Our kids are still young (pre-school) so we started with the first set and we’ll see how it goes. They did like the pictures and could associate most of the pictures with words they know, but there are some words that they do not yet know, such as “lad” for a young man, “rag” for a piece of cloth, or “fed” for the picture of a parent feeding a baby. But I think they will get the hang of it as they start sounding out the words and it may also help to increase their vocabulary. The sentences on each card (using words from that card) are cute and I think will help with word recognition in context. However I took away 1 star because of what I term as ‘logistics’: the way it is packaged and the way the cards were ordered within in the packages. First the packaging - the actual box is very nice and sturdy, but the problem is that it is right-sized for the cards and rings to ship and not for storage once the rings are attached. So if you want to re-use the box, you have to remove the rings before putting everything back in for storage. Which means there will be a little bit of work separating them again to put them back on the rings when you are ready to use the next time. And also it increases the chance of cards getting out of order or lost. Next the packages of cards - the plastic wrap around each set of cards is very tight and hard to open. Be careful when opening so that you don’t damage the cards. And since they give you the suggested “order” of cards, it would make sense that they were packaged in this order, but that wasn’t necessarily the case. Random cards were out of order in each of the packages, although most were ordered by grouping (1A, 1B, etc.) within a set (blue is set 1, green is set 2, etc.)
